Paytm has introduced a new Split Bills feature that helps users record, divide and settle shared expenses directly within its app. The feature arrives ahead of Friendship Day and targets users managing group spending for trips, dining, shopping, entertainment and other shared activities.
With Split Bills, users can track expenses, monitor pending balances and settle payments through Paytm UPI without relying on multiple apps or manual calculations.
Split expenses in multiple ways
Paytm lets users create a group and add unlimited shared expenses without charging any additional fee. The app offers multiple ways to split a bill based on the group’s preference.
Users can divide an expense equally, assign an exact amount to each participant, split it by shares or calculate payments using percentages.
The feature also provides a detailed summary of the group’s spending. Users can view the total amount spent, each member’s contribution, pending balances, recent activity and the amount every participant needs to pay or receive.
Paytm also allows users to send payment reminders directly through the app.
Supports UPI, cash and card payments
Unlike many bill-splitting apps, Paytm records expenses regardless of how users paid. The app supports payments made through Paytm UPI, other UPI apps, cash, debit and credit cards, making it easier to maintain a complete record of shared expenses.
Users can also mark payments made outside the app as settled. This keeps the expense history accurate even when someone pays in cash or through another payment platform.
When users choose to settle within the app, Paytm automatically fills in the payment amount and recipient details through Paytm UPI, reducing the chances of manual errors.
How to use Paytm Split Bills
Users can access the feature by opening the Paytm app and navigating to the Pay Anyone section. From there, they can select Split Bills, create a new group or choose an existing one, and add participants.
The app also lets users name the group and assign categories such as Trip, Home, Couple or Others. After entering an expense, users simply choose who paid the bill and decide how they want to split the amount.
The app then updates outstanding balances automatically and shows who owes money and who should receive payments.
More money management features
The launch expands Paytm’s growing suite of personal finance tools. The app already offers Spend Summary for tracking expenses, Download UPI Statement for maintaining payment records, home screen widgets for faster payments and Gold Coins, which users can redeem for gold.
Last year, the company also introduced the Hide Payments feature. It lets users move selected transactions to a protected section instead of displaying them in their main payment history, offering an extra layer of privacy.
With Split Bills, Paytm aims to make managing shared expenses simpler for friends, families and groups by bringing expense tracking and payment settlements into one place.
