Meta has rolled out a major software update for its Ray-Ban Display Glasses, adding deeper integration with Threads, smarter AI capabilities and new social features. The update is reaching users gradually in select global markets and expands the capabilities of Meta’s first augmented reality smart glasses.

The latest firmware also brings Meta AI’s Muse Spark models, enhanced Neural Handwriting, and better Instagram integration.

Threads and Instagram integration expands

Meta now lets users browse their Threads feed directly from the smart glasses. They can view photos and videos, interact with posts, share content through messages and use voice commands without picking up their phone.

The update also improves Instagram integration. Users can now share photos captured with the glasses directly to Instagram Instants, the messaging-based feed launched earlier this year.

They can simply say “Hey Meta, share an Instant” or “Hey Meta, post an Instant” to upload content.

Meta has also improved the Reels experience. Users can search for Instagram Reels, read comments and share videos with contacts using voice commands. For example, they can ask Meta AI to find Reels on a specific topic without opening the Instagram app.

Muse Spark makes Meta AI smarter

Meta has upgraded the glasses with Muse Spark, its latest AI model.

The company says the new model better understands what users see through the glasses. As a result, Meta AI can deliver more accurate responses and contextual suggestions.

The upgrade aims to make conversations with Meta AI feel more natural while improving visual understanding during everyday tasks.

Neural Handwriting now works with Meta AI

Meta has also enhanced Neural Handwriting, a feature it rolled out to all Ray-Ban Display Glasses users earlier this year.

Users enrolled in Meta’s Early Access Programme in the US and Canada can now interact with Meta AI without speaking. They only need to double-tap their thumb and select the Write option in AI Home to enter handwriting mode.

Meta AI then generates responses without requiring voice commands.

This feature currently works only with the Meta Neural Band and remains exclusive to eligible early access users.

Update rolling out gradually

Meta is releasing the new firmware in phases across supported regions. Users who have not received it yet should check again over the coming days.

The latest update strengthens Meta’s vision for AI-powered wearables. By combining augmented reality, AI assistance and social media into one device, the company continues to make its smart glasses more useful for everyday use.
