Buying a PlayStation 5 in India has become significantly more expensive. Sony has increased the price of the PS5 Standard Edition by Rs. 15,000, taking its retail price to Rs. 69,990.
The revised pricing appears on Sony’s official ShopAtSC online store, where the console is currently listed as out of stock. The standard edition previously retailed for Rs. 54,990, making this one of the biggest price hikes for the console in India since its launch.
PS5 Standard Edition now costs Rs. 69,990
Sony has updated the pricing of the disc version of the PS5 on its official storefront. The new price represents a nearly 28 percent increase over the previous retail price.
The company has not yet updated the listing for the PS5 Digital Edition, leaving its revised pricing unconfirmed. The digital model last received a price hike in July 2025, when Sony increased its price from Rs. 44,990 to Rs. 49,990.
Sony has increased PS5 prices worldwide
India is the latest market to see higher PS5 prices.
Earlier this year, Sony increased the prices of the PS5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal across several countries, including the US, UK and Japan. The company also raised prices in Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
Sony has consistently cited the global economic environment and rising component costs as key reasons for the price revisions.
AI demand continues to impact gaming hardware
The latest increase reflects a broader trend affecting the gaming industry.
Growing demand for memory and storage components used in AI infrastructure has pushed up hardware costs over the past year. As a result, prices have increased across gaming consoles, graphics cards, gaming PCs and handheld devices.
