Samsung could soon expand its wearable portfolio with an entirely new category of wireless Samsung Galaxy Buds. Fresh leaked images have revealed the design of the upcoming Galaxy Buds On/Able, suggesting the company is working on open-ear clip-on earbuds instead of traditional in-ear models.
The leaked illustrations, reportedly sourced from a Samsung application, show both the earbuds and their charging case. While Samsung has not officially confirmed the product, the design hints at a new approach focused on comfort and environmental awareness.
Clip-on design keeps your ears open
Unlike Samsung’s existing Galaxy Buds lineup, the Galaxy Buds On/Able appear to wrap around the outer ear instead of sitting inside the ear canal.
Each earbud features two distinct modules connected by a curved arm. A rounded module appears to sit close to the ear canal, while a flatter disc-shaped section rests behind the ear to secure the earbuds in place.
This design closely resembles open-ear earbuds from brands such as Motorola, Huawei and Bose, which prioritise comfort during extended use while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings.
Air-conduction instead of bone-conduction?
Earlier rumours suggested Samsung could adopt bone-conduction technology for the new earbuds. However, the leaked images indicate that the Galaxy Buds On/Able may instead use open-ear air-conduction technology, also known as Open Wireless Stereo (OWS).
Unlike bone-conduction headphones that transmit sound through the skull, air-conduction earbuds use conventional speaker drivers positioned just outside the ear canal. This allows users to enjoy music while still hearing ambient sounds, making them suitable for outdoor workouts, commuting and office use.
Although the images strongly suggest this design, Samsung has not officially confirmed the underlying audio technology.
Charging case also appears in leak
The leaked renders also provide a look at the charging case.
The case follows a compact pebble-shaped design and includes an LED status indicator on the front. However, the leak does not reveal details about battery capacity, charging speeds or additional features such as wireless charging.
Launch could happen later this year
Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy Earbuds On/Able or confirm their specifications.
Industry reports suggest the earbuds could debut alongside the Galaxy S26 FE later this year. If the leaks prove accurate, the Galaxy Buds On/Able would mark Samsung’s first entry into the growing open-ear wireless earbud segment, competing with products such as the Motorola Moto Buds Loop, Huawei FreeClip and Bose Ultra Open Earbuds.
Until Samsung makes an official announcement, the leaked images offer the clearest look yet at what could be one of the company’s most distinctive audio products in recent years.
