Samsung has expanded its wearable portfolio with the launch of the Galaxy Watch 9 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event. The latest smartwatch brings a new Qualcomm processor, brighter displays, improved health sensors, and AI-powered wellness tools aimed at helping users better understand their fitness and overall health.
The Galaxy Watch 9 succeeds last year’s model with upgrades across performance, display quality, and health tracking while continuing Samsung’s focus on integrating AI into its wearable ecosystem.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 Price and Availability
Samsung has opened pre-orders for the Galaxy Watch 9 in select global markets, with general availability scheduled for a later date. The smartwatch is available in 40mm and 44mm variants. The 40mm model comes in Graphite and Cream, while the 44mm version is offered in Graphite and Silver. Samsung has also introduced a new lineup of interchangeable watch bands, including Sports, Misty, and Fabric options. As part of the launch offers, buyers will receive a 60-day Strava Premium trial and a two-month iFIT membership in eligible markets.
Samsung has not yet announced pricing or availability for India.
Brighter AMOLED Display and New Snapdragon Wear Elite Chip
The Galaxy Watch 9 features a Super AMOLED Always-On Display protected by Sapphire Crystal glass. The 44mm model sports a 1.47-inch display with a 480×480 resolution, while the 40mm version features a 1.34-inch panel with a 438×438 resolution.
Both displays now deliver up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, making them easier to read outdoors. Powering the smartwatch is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite (SDW6100) chipset, built on a 3nm process. Samsung says the new processor delivers improved performance and power efficiency for smoother app performance and longer battery life.
The smartwatch comes with 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and runs Wear OS 7 with One UI 9 Watch on top.
AI Takes Center Stage in Health Tracking
Health remains one of the biggest highlights of the Galaxy Watch 9.
Samsung has equipped the smartwatch with a new BioActive Sensor, which combines an optical heart rate sensor, electrical heart signal sensor, and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sensor into a single module. Additional sensors include a temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, and ambient light sensor.
The company has also introduced several new AI-powered health features, including:
- Heart Health Score for monitoring cardiovascular wellness.
- Fitness Index to measure overall fitness levels.
- Daily Cardio Load to track cardiovascular strain.
- Vitals for monitoring key health metrics.
- Hearing insights.
- An improved Sleep Apnea detection feature.

Battery, Connectivity, and Durability
The 44mm Galaxy Watch 9 packs a 445mAh battery, while the 40mm model houses a 390mAh battery. Both variants support WPC-based fast wireless charging. Connectivity features include LTE, Bluetooth 6.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) for more accurate location tracking. Samsung has also focused on durability, giving the smartwatch 5ATM water resistance, an IP68 rating, and MIL-STD-810H certification, making it suitable for workouts and outdoor activities.
