News in Short

  • Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 has launched in India starting at ₹44,300.
  • The new smart glasses are available in Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena styles.
  • Meta has increased battery life to up to nine hours.
  • The charging case provides up to 50 additional hours of battery life.

Meta has brought its latest Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 smart glasses to India. The third-generation model arrives with improvements to battery life, audio capture and controls.

The glasses also expand the frame lineup with Aviator and Zena styles alongside the familiar Wayfarer. Meta is positioning the new generation as an upgrade to the core smart-glasses experience rather than a complete redesign.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 Price in India

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at ₹44,300 in India. This entry price applies to select combinations of the Aviator, Wayfarer and Zena designs.

The Transitions variants cost ₹50,100, while Polarised variants are priced at ₹46,500. Globally, Meta has introduced 27 frame and lens combinations, including Black, Havana and seasonal options.

The new generation is also more expensive than its predecessor. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 launched in India at ₹39,900, making the Gen 3 ₹4,400 more expensive at the starting level.

Battery Life Gets a Small Boost

Battery life is one of the main upgrades with the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3. Meta rates the new glasses for up to nine hours of use on a single charge.

The Gen 2 was rated for up to eight hours. The charging case also gets a small increase, with up to 50 additional hours compared with up to 48 hours on the previous generation.

The improvement should be useful for users who rely on the glasses throughout the day. However, actual battery life will depend on how frequently features such as recording and AI interactions are used.

Six Microphones Improve Audio Capture

Meta has also upgraded the audio capture system. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 uses a six-microphone array, compared with five microphones on the Gen 2.

Meta claims the new setup can cut more than 90% of background noise. The company says this is designed to improve voice commands and calls, particularly in noisy or windy environments.

This could make a noticeable difference for users who use the glasses for hands-free conversations. Better voice capture can also help when interacting with Meta AI in busy surroundings.

New Action Button Gives Faster AI Access

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 adds a customisable action button. The button is designed to provide quicker access to Meta AI and gives users another way to control the glasses.

Meta is also preparing Dolby Atmos capture support. Once available, the feature will allow users to record videos with spatial audio.

However, Dolby Atmos capture is not available immediately. Meta says the capability is expected to arrive through a later software update this year.

More Frame Choices for Gen 3

Design is another area where Meta has expanded the lineup. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is available in Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena styles in India.

This gives buyers more choice than the previous generation’s India lineup. Globally, Meta offers a wider selection of colours and lens combinations, including Black, Havana and seasonal options.

The glasses continue to combine traditional eyewear styling with smart features. That makes the design an important part of the product’s appeal for people who want wearable technology that looks closer to conventional sunglasses.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 vs Gen 2: Is the Upgrade Big?

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 focuses mainly on refinements. Battery life moves from eight to nine hours, while the charging case increases from 48 to 50 additional hours.

Audio capture gets a larger hardware upgrade with the six-microphone array and Meta’s claimed 90%+ background-noise reduction. The new action button also makes Meta AI access more direct.

However, the starting price is ₹4,400 higher than the Gen 2 in India. Based on the source’s comparison, the changes are focused on core improvements rather than a major feature overhaul.

For existing Gen 2 owners, the upgrade may therefore feel incremental. For first-time buyers, the Gen 3 adds newer hardware, more frame options and improved battery and audio capabilities.
