OnePlus has expanded its tablet portfolio in China with the launch of the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro. The new tablet arrives as the successor to the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro and brings flagship-grade hardware, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a large 13.2-inch display, and a massive battery.
However, there is one important detail. The new tablet is not an entirely new tablet. In fact, it closely mirrors the OnePlus Pad 4 that is already available in India and global markets.
That raises an interesting question. If the new tablet eventually arrives in India, would it offer anything new over the OnePlus Pad 4?
OnePlus Pad 3 Pro Price and Specifications
The pad starts at CNY 4,400 (roughly Rs 61,400) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The company also offers 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB configurations.
The tablet features a 13.2-inch LCD display with a 3.4K resolution of 3392 x 2400 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness.
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
For photography and video calls, users get a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera.
The tablet packs a 13,380mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC fast charging support. It also includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth connectivity, dual microphones, and an eight-speaker audio setup.
Is the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro Different From the OnePlus Pad 4?
Based on the official specifications, the answer is mostly no.
The new tablet and the OnePlus Pad 4 share the same display size, resolution, refresh rate, processor, memory options, speaker setup, and battery capacity.
Both tablets also run on the latest software platform and target users looking for productivity, entertainment, gaming, and content creation.
The similarities are so extensive that the Pad 3 Pro appears to be a China-focused version of the OnePlus Pad 4 rather than an entirely new product.
What Could Be Different If It Launches in India?
The biggest difference would likely come from software.
The pad ships with ColorOS 16 in China, while the Indian OnePlus Pad 4 runs OxygenOS 16. Although both operating systems share the same foundation, OnePlus typically customizes software experiences based on regional preferences.
There are also differences in ecosystem integrations, pre-installed applications, cloud services, and AI features depending on the market.
Charging support is another area worth watching. The Indian OnePlus Pad 4 offers 80W fast charging, while the China-launched Pad 3 Pro supports 67W charging. If OnePlus brings the new tablet to India, it may choose to align charging speeds with the existing Pad 4.
Color options and accessory bundles could also vary between regions.
Would the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro Make Sense in India?
This is where things become complicated.
The OnePlus Pad 4 is already available in India starting at Rs 59,999 and has positioned itself as one of the strongest Android tablets in the premium segment.
In our review, the tablet impressed with its Snapdragon 8 Elite performance, excellent battery life, productivity-focused software features, large 13.2-inch display, and powerful eight-speaker setup.
If OnePlus launches the new tablet in India with nearly identical specifications, consumers may struggle to see a clear reason for its existence unless pricing or software features create meaningful differentiation.
Launching two almost identical tablets could also create confusion within OnePlus’ own lineup.
Should Buyers Wait for the new tablet?
Based on what we know today, there is little reason for Indian buyers to postpone a purchase of the OnePlus Pad 4.
The hardware specifications are nearly identical. The display, processor, battery, and overall user experience appear largely unchanged.
Unless OnePlus introduces exclusive features, new accessories, or aggressive pricing for the Indian market, the Pad 3 Pro is unlikely to offer a significantly different experience.
For now, the launch of the Pad 3 Pro serves as confirmation that OnePlus remains committed to flagship Android tablets. However, for Indian consumers, the more interesting story is not what the Pad 3 Pro offers, but whether it can meaningfully improve upon what the OnePlus Pad 4 already delivers.
