WhatsApp has introduced a fresh set of features aimed at making group chats easier to manage. The update brings poll deadlines, anonymous voting, editable polls, @all mentions and a quicker way to create new groups from existing chats.

Polls get smarter

WhatsApp has upgraded its polling feature with several new tools to make group decisions easier.

Users can now set a deadline for polls, after which voting automatically closes. The platform has also added anonymous voting, allowing participants to hide their identities while casting votes.

Additionally, poll creators can edit questions within 15 minutes of posting them. This helps fix typos or clarify options without creating a new poll.

@all mentions arrive

One of the biggest additions is the new @all mention.

Instead of tagging members one by one, users can now notify everyone in a group with a single mention. WhatsApp says the feature is ideal for urgent announcements, event reminders, school updates or office notifications.

In groups with more than 32 participants, only administrators can use the @all tag. Even if a chat is muted, members will still receive these notifications. However, users can disable @all alerts through notification settings.

Create new groups faster

WhatsApp is also making it easier to start new conversations.

Users can now create a new group directly from an existing group without manually selecting participants again. The feature is designed for situations such as planning events, organising trips, coordinating projects or starting topic-specific discussions while keeping the main chat clutter-free.

Rolling out gradually

Meta says all the new group chat features are rolling out in phases and will become available to WhatsApp users over the next few weeks.
