One of the biggest announcements is a new feature called “Magic Pointer.” Google says it transforms the traditional laptop cursor into an AI-powered assistant.

According to the company, users can simply wiggle the cursor to activate Gemini-powered contextual suggestions. The system analyzes what appears on the screen and offers actions instantly.

For example, pointing at a date inside an email can automatically help create a meeting. Selecting two images, such as a living room photo and a couch image, can generate a visualization showing how the furniture may look in the space.

Google says the feature was developed with the help of the Google DeepMind team.

The company claims this could reduce the number of steps needed for everyday tasks. Instead of switching between apps or manually copying information, users may rely on Gemini suggestions directly from the cursor layer.

Why Is Google Combining Android and ChromeOS?

Google says modern users often switch between multiple devices throughout the day. As a result, GoogleBook focuses heavily on ecosystem continuity.

Because the laptops use part of the Android technology stack, Google says it can deliver features faster while improving phone-to-laptop experiences.

Another major GoogleBook feature is “Create your Widget.” This tool lets users build custom desktop widgets using natural language prompts.

Google says Gemini can connect with services like Gmail and Calendar while also searching the web for relevant information.

The company shared an example involving travel planning. A user organizing a family reunion in Berlin could ask Gemini to collect flight details, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and countdown reminders into a single desktop dashboard.

This turns the desktop into a personalized AI-powered information hub instead of a static workspace.

The feature also reflects a broader industry trend where AI assistants increasingly act as organizers rather than simple chatbots.

Which Companies Are Building GoogleBook Laptops?

Google confirmed that several major PC manufacturers are already working on GoogleBook devices.

That includes Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

According to Google, every GoogleBook will focus on premium materials and craftsmanship. Devices will come in different shapes and sizes. However, the company says all models will include a unique “glowbar” design element that visually identifies them as GoogleBooks.
