Homegrown smartphone brand AI+ has started rolling out NxtQuantum OS v1.1 to its smartphones. The new software update focuses on privacy, security and giving users more visibility into how apps access their data and device resources.

The update introduces several new privacy-focused features. These include the NxtPrivacy Dashboard, background activity alerts and privacy warnings.

With these additions, AI+ wants to give users more control over app permissions and make background activity easier to understand.

NxtPrivacy Dashboard Brings App Permissions Together

One of the biggest additions in NxtQuantum OS v1.1 is the NxtPrivacy Dashboard.

The dashboard brings app permissions into a single interface. Therefore, users can review the permissions that apps currently have without checking each application individually.

Users can also modify or revoke permissions from the dashboard. This gives them more control over how applications access smartphone resources and personal data.

For example, users can review which apps have access to sensitive device functions and remove permissions they no longer need.

New Alerts Show Background App Activity

NxtQuantum OS v1.1 also improves visibility into what applications do when users are not actively using them.

The update can show when apps access sensitive device resources in the background. In addition, new privacy alerts can flag permissions that the system considers excessive, unnecessary or no longer required.

As a result, users get more information about app activity instead of discovering permissions only when they manually check an application’s settings.

AI+ Claims App Traffic Stays Within India

AI+ is also highlighting data sovereignty as part of the new software update.

The company claims that app data traffic and IP pings remain within India. Meanwhile, it says external traffic remains limited to essential Google core services, which connect to servers in California and Singapore for standard operating system functions.

AI+ also says its security framework automatically analyses source rules across more than 1,000 connections and 172 unique destination IPs.

The company describes this as part of its perimeter-security framework.

However, these are claims from AI+, and the company has not provided further technical details in the supplied announcement about how the framework independently verifies or enforces these traffic restrictions.

AI+ Focuses on Privacy and User Control

According to AI+, NxtQuantum OS v1.1 forms part of its broader approach to building a technology platform around privacy, security and user control.

AI+ Smartphone Lineup

AI+, founded by Madhav Sheth, currently sells six smartphones in India across its Nova and Pulse series.

The Nova range includes the Nova 2 Pro 5G, Nova 2 Neo 5G, Nova 2 Ultra 5G, Nova 2 5G and NovaFlip 5G. Meanwhile, the Pulse lineup currently includes the AI+ Pulse 2.

The company is expected to provide more information about the NxtQuantum OS v1.1 rollout across these models in the coming days.
