Xiaomi has given the world an early look at its upcoming foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, at IFA 2026. The company showcased the device ahead of its China launch, which is scheduled for September 7.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold appeared in a red colour option at the event. More importantly, the foldable will become the first Xiaomi smartphone to ship with the company’s next-generation XRING O3 processor.
The company also showed a triple rear camera setup on the foldable. However, Xiaomi has not revealed complete specifications or pricing for the Xiaomi 18 Fold at the IFA showcase.
Xiaomi Brings 380+ Products to IFA 2026
The Xiaomi 18 Fold was only one part of the company’s much larger IFA 2026 showcase. Xiaomi presented more than 380 products and technologies across a 3,300-square-metre exhibition space.
The company divided its showcase into three main sections: AI Tomorrow, AI Today, and Human × Car × Home Product Portfolio.
AI Tomorrow focused on Xiaomi’s vision for intelligent mobility. The section also featured the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo electric hypercar concept.
Meanwhile, AI Today focused on products such as the Xiaomi SU7 Max and connected home technologies. Xiaomi’s broader message centred on how AI can connect smartphones, cars and smart home devices to handle everyday tasks.
The Human × Car × Home section brought together products across several categories. These included cooking and food storage, home cleaning, air management, audiovisual entertainment, safety and security, personal devices and smart mobility.
Mijia Smart Home Ecosystem Gets European Push
Xiaomi also used IFA 2026 to highlight its Mijia smart home ecosystem. The company confirmed plans to expand Mijia at scale across Europe.
This move could make Xiaomi’s connected-device ecosystem more relevant to European consumers. The company already has products across several smart home categories, and its IFA presentation showed how it wants these devices to work together through a broader ecosystem.
At the same time, Xiaomi highlighted its investments in AI, operating systems, chips and smart manufacturing.
CyberOne Robot and New AI Technologies
Robotics also featured prominently at Xiaomi’s IFA showcase. The company demonstrated its CyberOne humanoid robot alongside several of its latest AI developments.
These included MiMo-V2.5-Pro, Xiaomi Miloco and Xiaomi Miclaw. Xiaomi also highlighted its HyperOS platform as part of its wider connected-device strategy.
Together, these products show Xiaomi’s ambition to move beyond smartphones and build a broader technology ecosystem around AI and connected devices.
Xiaomi Auto Expansion Planned for Europe
Xiaomi’s automotive ambitions also received significant attention at IFA 2026. The company displayed the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept alongside the latest-generation Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
According to Xiaomi, it has delivered more than 700,000 vehicles in mainland China since starting deliveries in March 2024.
The company also confirmed plans to bring Xiaomi Auto to European markets, including Germany, in 2027. That expansion could make Xiaomi’s connected-car strategy more visible to international consumers.
Xiaomi expects its global R&D investment to exceed EUR 24 billion between 2026 and 2030. The investment will cover areas including AI, operating systems, chips, smart vehicles and robotics.
Xiaomi 18 Fold: What to Expect
For smartphone buyers, the Xiaomi 18 Fold remains the key highlight. The device will debut with Xiaomi’s new XRING O3 chip, giving the company another opportunity to showcase its in-house silicon.
The foldable will launch in China on September 7, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max. Xiaomi’s IFA appearance therefore serves as an early preview before the company reveals more details at launch.
For now, Xiaomi is positioning the 18 Fold as part of a much bigger technology story. The company wants its smartphones, AI systems, smart home products, cars and robotics technologies to work together as one ecosystem.
