Tecno has unveiled a glimpse of its Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone, claiming it features 0mm display bezels for a true edge-to-edge viewing experience. The prototype is set to make its public debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin this September, where the company is expected to reveal more about the technology behind the design.

While smartphone makers have steadily reduced bezel sizes over the years, Tecno believes its latest concept takes the idea a step further by virtually eliminating the borders around the display.

A truly borderless display

According to Tecno, the concept phone achieves its 0mm bezel design through a combination of advanced internal component stacking, new screen packaging techniques and structural re-engineering.

The company has not disclosed the technical details behind these engineering changes. More information is expected when the device is officially showcased during IFA 2026.

Tecno says the result is a true edge-to-edge display, delivering a more immersive viewing experience with almost no visible borders surrounding the screen.

Compared against the iPhone 17 Pro

As part of the announcement, Tecno released promotional images comparing the concept phone with Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro.

The images highlight a noticeably thinner border around the Tecno prototype, suggesting a more seamless front design. However, the company has not provided any independent measurements or technical specifications to support the comparison.

Despite the bezel-free appearance, the concept device still retains a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera.

A glimpse of future Tecno smartphones

Although the Borderless Concept Phone is not a commercial product, Tecno has hinted that the underlying display technology could eventually make its way to future smartphones.

If the company succeeds in bringing the engineering techniques to mass production, upcoming Tecno devices could feature significantly slimmer bezels than current smartphones.
