News in Short

  • Huawei is reportedly developing a smaller version of the MatePad Pro Max tablet.
  • The new tablet carries the codename “Dali,” according to a tipster.
  • It could offer flagship features in a more portable design.
  • Huawei may launch the tablet later this year.
  • The current MatePad Pro Max starts at around Rs. 1.57 lakh globally.

Huawei could soon expand its premium tablet lineup with a smaller version of the MatePad Pro Max. A new leak suggests the company is developing a compact flagship tablet that could deliver the same high-end experience in a more portable form factor.

While Huawei has not officially confirmed the device, the latest report indicates that the new model, codenamed “Dali,” may debut later this year.

For Indian consumers, the tablet is unlikely to launch officially because Huawei no longer sells smartphones and tablets widely in the country. However, the device could attract attention in global markets as a premium alternative to Apple’s iPad Pro.

Leak Points to a Smaller MatePad Pro Max

According to Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Huawei is working on a new premium tablet internally known as “Dali.”

The leak suggests the upcoming device will build on the existing MatePad Pro Max. However, Huawei could reduce the screen size to make it easier to carry. The tablet may also feature a design similar to Apple’s iPad Pro while retaining flagship hardware.

The tipster also shared older listings that reportedly reference the device, hinting that Huawei has been developing the tablet for some time.

Huawei has not revealed specifications, pricing, or a launch timeline yet.

What Does the Current MatePad Pro Max Offer?

Huawei introduced the MatePad Pro Max earlier this year as its flagship tablet.

The device features a 13.2-inch flexible OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. It runs on HarmonyOS 4.3 and comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

For multimedia, Huawei includes six speakers tuned with Huawei Sound. The tablet also supports the Huawei M-Pencil Pro stylus and the Glide Keyboard accessory, making it suitable for productivity and creative work.

On the camera front, the MatePad Pro Max features a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front camera for video calls.

Battery capacity varies by region. Most global markets received a 10,400mAh battery, while the European model packs a 9,760mAh unit. Both versions support 66W wired fast charging and up to 40W wired reverse charging.

A Compact Flagship Could Appeal to More Buyers

Large tablets work well for productivity, but many users prefer smaller devices for reading, entertainment, and travel.

A compact MatePad Pro Max could strike a better balance between portability and performance. If Huawei retains flagship specifications while reducing the display size, the new tablet could compete more directly with premium compact tablets like Apple’s iPad Pro.

However, the company has not confirmed the existence of the device. Until then, the leaked details should be treated with caution.

More information about the rumored MatePad Pro Max variant is expected to surface in the coming months.
