- Hotel booking through AI Mode is rolling out in the US, while flight price tracking is available in more than 180 countries.
Google is expanding its AI Mode search experience with new travel features that can help users track flight prices, find hotels and even complete hotel bookings. The company has also added support for searching flight and hotel prices using points or miles.
The additions push AI Mode beyond answering travel-related questions. Users can now use the conversational search tool to handle parts of the trip-planning and booking process.
Google AI Mode Can Track Flight Prices
Users can now tell AI Mode where and when they want to travel, and the tool will show available flight options with current prices from more than 300 airlines and travel sites.
Once users find a suitable flight, they can build an itinerary within AI Mode. However, those who are not ready to book can ask Google to track the fare instead.
AI Mode will then monitor the selected flight and send an email when the price changes. Google says flight price tracking is now available in more than 180 countries.
AI Mode Can Also Help Book Hotels
Google is also bringing hotel booking to AI Mode. Users can describe their upcoming trip and provide preferences such as the type of hotel they want.
AI Mode will then present hotel options along with reviews and other key information. After choosing a property, users can ask AI Mode to help with the booking.
The tool will show a “Continue on Google” option alongside participating hotel chains and travel platforms. Users can then select a room, check details such as the cancellation policy and complete the payment using Google Pay.
Google notes that the hotel or booking platform will handle the actual reservation and customer service.
Hotel booking through AI Mode has started rolling out in the US in English and will expand over the coming weeks. Participating partners include Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Search Flights and Hotels Using Points or Miles
Google is also making it easier to search for travel options using loyalty points or airline miles.
For example, users can tell AI Mode that they want to travel between two cities using a particular airline’s miles and provide their preferred travel dates. AI Mode will then show matching flights and how many miles they would require.
The points and miles feature is now available globally and covers both flights and hotels.
