News in Short

  • BGMI Air launch date in India is set for December 10, with the lighter game arriving as a separate app.
  • Closed beta testing will run from November 20 to November 24 in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
  • Players must submit a 15–60-second audition video; the initial download is expected to be around 1GB.

Krafton India has confirmed that BGMI Air will launch in India on December 10. The upcoming mobile game is a lighter alternative to Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). It will arrive as a separate app, allowing players to keep their existing BGMI installation and account.

The announcement comes as the game crosses 14 million pre-registrations on Google Play. Krafton is also preparing a closed beta programme, giving selected players an early look before the public launch.

BGMI Air closed beta dates and cities

BGMI Air’s closed beta testing will take place from November 20 to November 24. The sessions are planned across Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Krafton says it will use player feedback to improve the experience ahead of launch.

Players who want to participate must submit an audition video lasting between 15 and 60 seconds. The clip should explain why they deserve an early chance to try the game. Applicants must also tag the official social media account and complete an application form linked through the bio sections of BGMI Air and BGMI’s official Instagram account, @battlegroundsmobilein_official.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. They also need a valid government-issued photo ID and an active BGMI account. Krafton has not announced how many players it will select for the test.

A lighter BGMI experience for more phones

Krafton says BGMI Air will require an initial download of approximately 1GB. The smaller footprint could make the game more accessible to players with limited phone storage or devices that struggle with the full BGMI experience.

However, the company has yet to share the minimum hardware requirements or the Android version needed to run BGMI Air. Players will need to wait for those details before confirming whether their devices are compatible.

BGMI Air will not replace the original game

BGMI Air will be available as a standalone application. Existing players can continue using the original BGMI app and their current accounts. Krafton has not indicated that players must migrate their accounts or progress to the new game.

The title was previously announced as BGMI Lite. Krafton India renamed it BGMI Air last month, positioning it as a lighter way to access the popular battle royale experience. More details about gameplay, compatibility and the beta selection process are expected closer to the launch.
