Vivo has showcased its Vision Discovery Edition mixed reality headset in India at the Vivo NEXT 2026 event.

The headset is positioned as a spatial computing device. It combines virtual and augmented reality experiences with eye tracking, hand gestures and high-resolution Micro-OLED displays.

Vivo has not announced pricing or commercial availability in India yet. However, consumers will soon be able to experience the headset at selected Vivo stores across the country.

8K Micro-OLED displays power the experience

The Vivo Vision Discovery Edition features dual binocular Micro-OLED displays with an 8K resolution.

Each eye gets a 3,840×3,552-pixel display. Vivo says the screens cover 94 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and achieve a Delta E of less than 2.

The headset weighs 398g and measures 83mm in height and 40mm in thickness.

Vivo has also focused on fit and comfort. The headset comes with a padded headband and multiple light-seal and foam-padding options.

Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 powers the headset

The Vision Discovery Edition is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform.

According to Vivo, the platform offers up to 2.5 times higher GPU performance and eight times higher AI performance compared with the previous-generation platform.

The headset also supports ultra-low-latency passthrough. This allows users to see their surroundings while interacting with virtual content.

Eye tracking and gestures replace traditional controls

Vivo is using cameras and depth sensors to enable more natural interaction.

Its eye-tracking system is claimed to offer 1.5-degree precision. The hand and finger recognition system supports 26 degrees of freedom.

The headset also has a 175-degree vertical tracking range.

This allows users to interact with virtual elements using hand movements and pinch gestures. As a result, users do not have to rely solely on physical controllers for interaction.

OriginOS Vision is designed for mixed reality

The Vision Discovery Edition runs Vivo’s OriginOS Vision platform.

Unlike the company’s smartphone-focused software, OriginOS Vision has been developed specifically for mixed reality.

One of its highlighted features is Vivo Vision Cinema Mode. It can create a virtual screen equivalent to a 120-foot cinema display.

The headset can also be used for live sports and esports viewing, gaming and other entertainment experiences.

This gives Vivo’s headset a broader focus than simply displaying virtual content. The company is positioning it as a spatial computing platform for entertainment and interactive experiences.

Vivo Vision headset can be experienced in 10 cities

While the Vision Discovery Edition is not currently available to purchase in India, Vivo is bringing the experience to consumers.

The headset can be experienced across 15 experience zones in 10 cities.

These include Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Indore, Dehradun, Patna and Nagpur.

Vivo has not yet revealed the Indian price or a commercial launch date.

For now, the Vision Discovery Edition gives Vivo an entry into India’s emerging mixed reality market. Its combination of 8K Micro-OLED displays, eye tracking, gesture controls and a dedicated mixed reality operating system makes it one of the company’s more ambitious hardware showcases in India.
