Key Highlights

  • The Vivo V70 Elite has allegedly received hikes of up to Rs. 4,000.
  • Select Y-series smartphones are also affected by the revision.
  • Industry-wide component shortages continue to impact smartphone pricing.

Buying a Vivo smartphone in India may now cost more. According to fresh reports, Vivo has revised the prices of several models, including the Vivo V70, Vivo V70 Elite, and select Y-series smartphones. The reported increases range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 4,000 depending on the device and storage configuration.

The move follows a broader trend across the smartphone industry, where brands have been quietly raising prices amid increasing component costs and supply chain pressures.

Which Vivo Phones Have Reportedly Become More Expensive?

The biggest increase appears to affect the Vivo V70 Elite.

According to details shared by tipster Sanju Choudhary, the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is now reportedly priced at Rs. 58,999. That represents a Rs. 4,000 increase from its earlier price of Rs. 54,999.

The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version has also reportedly become more expensive. It is now said to cost Rs. 63,999, compared to Rs. 59,999 previously.

The standard Vivo V70 has allegedly received a similar treatment.

The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model is now tipped to cost Rs. 53,999 instead of Rs. 49,999. Meanwhile, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version has reportedly increased from Rs. 53,999 to Rs. 56,999.

What About Vivo’s Affordable Y-Series?

The reported price revision is not limited to premium and upper mid-range devices.

Vivo’s Y-series lineup has also been affected.

The Vivo Y21, which targets budget-conscious buyers, is now reportedly priced at Rs. 21,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. That marks a Rs. 1,000 increase over its previous price.

The Vivo Y400 has seen some of the sharpest increases.

According to the report, the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model now costs Rs. 31,999, compared to Rs. 28,999 earlier. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant has also reportedly jumped from Rs. 31,999 to Rs. 34,999.

If accurate, that represents a Rs. 3,000 increase across both variants.

Why Are Smartphone Prices Increasing?

While Vivo has not officially explained the reported revision, the smartphone industry has been dealing with rising component costs for several months.

One major factor is the growing demand for memory components used in AI servers and enterprise data centers. As cloud companies and AI firms purchase more memory chips, supply for consumer electronics can become tighter.

This often pushes component prices higher, increasing manufacturing costs for smartphone brands.

Rather than launching devices at significantly higher prices, some manufacturers have opted for gradual revisions after launch.

The trend has affected multiple brands in India throughout 2026.

What Does This Mean for Smartphone Buyers?

For consumers, timing is becoming increasingly important.

A smartphone that costs Rs. 50,000 today could become several thousand rupees more expensive within a few weeks or months. This makes tracking price changes as important as comparing specifications.

The latest revision may also influence buying decisions in highly competitive categories where consumers often compare Vivo devices against rivals from Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme, and Motorola.

Price increases can narrow the value gap between competing devices and shift attention toward newer launches offering better specifications at similar prices.

Has Vivo Raised Prices Before?

Yes. This is not the first time Vivo has reportedly revised smartphone pricing this year.

In May, reports suggested that several Vivo devices, including the Vivo T5x, Vivo V70 Elite, Vivo Y400, Vivo Y51 Pro, and Vivo Y31 5G, received price increases.

The latest reported adjustment once again includes the Vivo V70 Elite and Vivo Y400, suggesting that certain models continue to be affected by changing market conditions.

At the time of writing, Vivo has not officially announced the latest revision. However, the updated prices are reportedly visible on the company’s website.

Conclusion

The reported Vivo V70 and Y-series price hike highlights a growing trend in India’s smartphone market. Rising component costs and supply chain pressures are increasingly influencing retail prices long after launch. For buyers considering a Vivo V70, Vivo V70 Elite, or Y-series device, the latest revisions serve as a reminder that smartphone pricing is becoming more dynamic in the AI era.
