Samsung Galaxy A08 has made its debut without a major launch event. The smartphone is currently available through Samsung’s online store in Ukraine.
The phone is priced at UAH 10,699, which converts to roughly Rs. 23,000. Samsung is currently offering one configuration with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The Galaxy A08 comes in Dark Blue, Green and Silver colour options. Samsung has not detailed availability in other markets yet.
For an entry-level smartphone, the combination of a large battery and a high-refresh-rate display makes the Galaxy A08 notable. However, its current availability remains limited to select markets.
Galaxy A08 gets 120Hz display and MediaTek chip
The Samsung Galaxy A08 features a 6.7-inch HD+ PLS LCD display. The panel has a resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels and supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The higher refresh rate should make scrolling and everyday navigation feel smoother. The large screen also gives the phone a more spacious display for videos, browsing and social media.
Under the hood, the smartphone uses the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. It is a 6nm octa-core processor with two performance cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and six efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz.
The phone includes 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Users can expand the storage further with a microSD card. Samsung supports cards of up to 2TB.
The software package is another important part of the phone. Galaxy A08 runs Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8. Samsung has also promised software support until 2032. That gives the entry-level phone a longer software support window than many budget smartphones.
50MP camera and 6,000mAh battery
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A08 with a dual-camera setup at the back. The primary camera uses a 50-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus.
It is paired with a 2-megapixel secondary camera. The rear camera supports up to 10x digital zoom.
For selfies and video calls, the phone has an 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The camera system can also record HD video at up to 120fps.
The biggest hardware highlight, however, is the battery. The Galaxy A08 packs a 6,000mAh battery.
That capacity should appeal to users who prioritise endurance over a slimmer design. The phone measures 167.4 x 77.4 x 8mm and weighs around 197 grams.
Connectivity includes 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3. The phone also gets a USB Type-C port, GPS and multiple navigation systems.
Samsung has included a fingerprint scanner alongside ambient light and proximity sensors.
The Galaxy A08 therefore takes a straightforward approach to the entry-level segment. Its main focus is a large display, big battery, expandable storage and long software support.
For now, Samsung has only confirmed the phone’s availability in Ukraine. There is no India price or India launch date in the provided information.
