Snapdragon 8 Elite Powers the Phone

The Redmi K90 Ultra runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process.

The processor pairs with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi has also added its D2 AI gaming graphics chip to improve frame rates and graphics performance during gaming sessions.

To maintain performance, the company has equipped the phone with an active cooling fan. According to Xiaomi, the cooling system can reduce temperatures by around 10 degrees Celsius within 100 seconds.

Massive Battery Meets Flagship Charging

Battery capacity is one of the phone’s biggest highlights.

The Redmi K90 Ultra packs an 8,550mAh battery, one of the largest ever seen on a flagship smartphone.

It supports 100W wired fast charging and ships with a 100W GaN charger inside the box. Additionally, the phone supports 22.5W wired reverse charging.

Xiaomi has also included its in-house Surge P3 charging chip and Surge G2 battery management chip to improve charging efficiency and battery health.

165Hz AMOLED Display and Dual Cameras

The smartphone features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate.

The panel supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and reaches up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. It also offers a 480Hz touch sampling rate and an instantaneous touch sampling rate of up to 3,500Hz, making it well-suited for gaming.

For photography, the Redmi K90 Ultra includes a 50-megapixel Light Hunter 800 primary camera paired with a 1/1.55-inch sensor. It also gets an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

A 20-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.

Premium Features Continue

Beyond its core hardware, the Redmi K90 Ultra includes several flagship features.

The phone carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, NavIC, and dual stereo speakers tuned by Bose with Dolby Atmos support.

The handset runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and includes an X-axis linear motor, infrared blaster, and several sensors for an enhanced user experience.

Will the Redmi K90 Ultra Launch in India?

Xiaomi has not announced any plans to bring the Redmi K90 Ultra to India.

However, the company’s K-series devices have often inspired or been rebranded as other Xiaomi or Poco smartphones in international markets. That means some of the technologies showcased in the Redmi K90 Ultra—including its massive battery, active cooling system, and high-refresh-rate display—could eventually make their way to India through a different model.

For Indian buyers, the launch also highlights a growing trend in the smartphone industry. Chinese brands are pushing battery capacities beyond 8,000mAh without significantly increasing device thickness. As competition intensifies, similar battery technology could soon reach smartphones launched in India.
