Google has launched the Pixel Tag as its answer to Apple’s AirTag. The new tracking device debuted alongside the Pixel 11 smartphone lineup at Google’s Made by Google 2026 event.

The Pixel Tag helps users keep track of everyday items such as keys and bags. Instead of creating a separate tracking network, Google uses its existing Find Hub network for the device.

This allows nearby Android devices to help locate a lost Pixel Tag, similar to how Apple’s Find My network helps AirTag users find lost items.

Google Pixel Tag price and availability

Google Pixel Tag costs $29 for a single tracker in the US. A four-pack will cost $99.

The tracker will go on sale from November 11, 2026.

Google has designed the Pixel Tag for attaching to items such as keychains and bags. The company has not provided details about an India price or availability in the information shared.

Pixel Tag uses Android’s Find Hub network

The biggest advantage of Pixel Tag comes from Google’s Find Hub network.

Android users can add the tracker to Find Hub on their smartphones. The network can then use nearby Android devices to help determine the location of a missing tag.

Users can also locate and ring their Pixel Tag directly from a Pixel Watch. This gives users another way to find nearby belongings without reaching for their smartphone.

Google’s approach closely mirrors Apple’s AirTag ecosystem. However, the Pixel Tag targets Android users and integrates directly with Google’s existing device-finding infrastructure.

Slimmer design with Bluetooth and UWB

Google has opted for an elongated design instead of the small circular shape used by Apple’s AirTag.

The Pixel Tag measures 1.1 inches in width and 1.8 inches in height. It has a thickness of 0.2 inches and weighs 0.4 ounces with its battery.

For comparison, the AirTag measures 1.26 inches across and weighs 0.39 ounces.

Both trackers carry an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. This means they can withstand immersion in up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes.

The Pixel Tag also supports Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband connectivity. UWB enables more precise location tracking when users are close to the tracker.

However, Google has not included NFC on the Pixel Tag.

A built-in speaker can also play a sound when users need to locate the tracker nearby.

Replaceable battery lasts around a year

The Pixel Tag uses a replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery. Google says the battery can power the tracker for roughly a year before replacement becomes necessary.

The use of a replaceable battery also means users do not need to replace the entire tracker once the battery runs out.

With its $29 price, Android integration and support for UWB precision finding, the Pixel Tag gives Google a direct answer to Apple’s AirTag. More importantly, its success will depend on how effectively Google’s Find Hub network can match the reach and reliability of Apple’s established tracking ecosystem.
