Google may finally be preparing to launch its own answer to Apple’s AirTag. Ahead of the Pixel 11 launch event on August 12, a new accessory called the Google Pixel Tag has surfaced online, giving users an early look at the company’s first in-house Bluetooth tracker.
The tracker has appeared in multiple online listings and leaked images, suggesting Google could unveil it alongside the Pixel 11 series.
Google Pixel Tag appears in online listings
According to a report by 9to5Google, the upcoming tracker carries the model number GA12506 and the marketing name Google Pixel Tag. The listings also reveal a colour option called Fog Light.
The leaked image shows an oblong-shaped tracker, making it stand out from most Bluetooth trackers currently available. While Apple’s AirTag uses a circular design and Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag has a rounded square shape, Google’s tracker appears taller and slimmer.
Unlike some competing trackers, the Pixel Tag does not seem to include a built-in keyring hole or mounting mechanism. Users may instead need a dedicated case or holder to attach it to keys, bags or luggage.
Designed to work with Google’s Find Hub network
The leaked marketing description says the Google Pixel Tag will help users locate lost belongings using Google’s secure Find My Device network, now known as Find Hub.
Users should be able to attach the tracker to everyday items such as keys, wallets or luggage and locate them through their Android smartphone.
The listing also mentions a built-in speaker, allowing users to ring the tracker when searching for nearby items. Google also highlights privacy and security protections designed to safeguard users’ location data.
Several details remain unknown
Despite the leak, several important specifications remain a mystery.
It is still unclear whether the Pixel Tag will support Ultra Wideband (UWB) for precise location tracking or rely solely on Bluetooth. Google has also not revealed whether the tracker will feature a replaceable battery or a rechargeable design.
Those details could become clearer if the company officially announces the accessory during its upcoming hardware event.
Could launch alongside the Pixel 11
Google is widely expected to unveil the Pixel 11 series on August 12. Earlier leaks have already hinted at the Pixel Tag, but this is the first time its design has surfaced publicly.
Although Google has not confirmed the accessory, the appearance of retail listings suggests the launch could be close.
If announced, the Pixel Tag would mark Google’s first first-party smart tracker, expanding its hardware ecosystem while giving Android users a native alternative to Apple’s AirTag.
