Boat has expanded beyond its usual audio and wearable products with the launch of its new CineHead F1 projector series in India.
The CineHead F1 Pro is the first model in the lineup. Alongside it, Boat has announced the standard CineHead F1, which will arrive later this month.
The new projectors bring Google TV to Boat’s projector range for the first time. They also support native 1080p projection and content playback at up to 4K resolution.
Boat CineHead F1 Pro price and availability
The Boat CineHead F1 Pro is priced at Rs. 32,999 in India. This is an introductory price, so the regular retail price could be higher later. The projector is currently available through the Boat India website, Amazon and Flipkart.
Meanwhile, the standard CineHead F1 will launch later in August. Boat has not revealed its price or availability details yet. The company says those details will be announced closer to the launch.
Google TV 5.0 is the main highlight
The biggest addition to the CineHead F1 Pro is Google TV 5.0. Boat says this is its first projector to ship with official Google TV. The platform gives users access to more than 10,000 apps through the Google Play Store.
Furthermore, users can create multiple profiles and access personalised content recommendations. There is also a dedicated Kids mode for younger viewers.
Google Assistant is built into the software as well. Therefore, users can control the projector and search for content using voice commands. The bundled remote also supports voice input. It comes with dedicated shortcut buttons for Netflix and YouTube.
Google TV 5.0 also enables wireless screen mirroring. This allows users to mirror compatible devices without relying entirely on a wired connection.
Up to 120-inch projection with automatic adjustments
The CineHead F1 Pro uses native 1080p projection but supports content at up to 4K resolution. Boat claims the projector can deliver screen sizes of up to 120 inches.
It also focuses on reducing the manual setup typically associated with projectors.
For example, autofocus can automatically adjust image clarity. Auto keystone correction helps correct the shape of the projected image when the projector is not perfectly aligned with the screen.
In addition, obstacle avoidance is designed to detect objects in the projection path and help maintain a usable image. The projector comes with an adjustable stand, which gives users more flexibility when positioning it around a room.
Connectivity and hardware
Under the hood, the CineHead F1 Pro uses an unspecified MediaTek chipset. It is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For wireless connectivity, the projector supports dual-band Wi-Fi across 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. It also supports Bluetooth 5.1.
Wired connectivity includes HDMI, USB and a 3.5mm audio jack. The projector also supports HDMI ARC and eARC for compatible audio equipment. The CineHead F1 Pro supports Dolby Audio as well, making it more suitable for a home entertainment setup.
With its combination of Google TV, large-screen projection and automatic image adjustments, Boat is positioning the CineHead F1 Pro as a more convenient alternative to a traditional TV setup.
The standard CineHead F1 will follow later this month. However, its pricing and specifications will need to be revealed before it can be compared directly with the Pro model.
