Samsung has introduced the Galaxy SmartTag3 as its latest compact tracker for everyday belongings and pets. The new model focuses on a smaller design, longer battery life and more precise location tracking.

The Galaxy SmartTag3 is also the first model in the series to support core finding and sharing features across Galaxy and iOS devices. Samsung has also added new proactive alerts that can notify users when a tagged item moves beyond a defined area.

Smaller Design With Up to 790 Days of Battery

The Galaxy SmartTag3 has a more compact build than the previous generation. Samsung says it is around 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter.

The smaller size makes it easier to attach the tracker to keys, bags, luggage and pet collars. It features a rounded body with an aluminium-decorated button. Samsung will also offer a Silicone Case with a keyring and a Loop Case.

Battery life is another major focus. The tracker can run for up to 550 days under standard usage. With Power Saving Mode enabled, battery life can reach up to 790 days.

Finding Items From Up to 60 Metres

Samsung has upgraded the finding experience with Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding. The technology allows Compass View to provide distance and directional guidance from up to 60 metres away.

That is around three times the range offered by the previous generation, according to Samsung. As users move closer to the tagged object, UWB technology can provide more precise location guidance.

The Galaxy Find Network can also help when the SmartTag3 moves beyond the user’s direct connection range. Samsung says more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide can act as finding nodes.

The network can detect a Galaxy SmartTag3 and update its location through participating devices. Samsung also says faster network updates can provide new location information sooner after a disconnection.

Cross-OS Support Comes to SmartTag

Galaxy SmartTag3 adds cross-OS compatibility for the first time in the SmartTag lineup. Users on supported Galaxy and iOS devices can access core finding and sharing features through SmartThings Find.

This can be useful when another person has a tagged item. For example, someone borrowing a suitcase can check its location from their own compatible device.

The feature also makes shared tracking more practical for families and groups using different mobile platforms.

New Alerts Can Track Movement

Samsung has added several features designed to reduce the need for constant manual tracking.

Place Notification lets users define an area and receive an alert when a tagged item moves in or out of that location. This could help users keep track of a pet leaving a garden or a bicycle moving away from its usual parking area.

Location History lets users review where a tag has been. Meanwhile, Movement Detection Alert can notify users when movement is detected.

The tracker also retains the Left Behind Alert feature. It can notify users when their phone loses connection with a tagged belonging.

IP67 Rating and Privacy Features

The Galaxy SmartTag3 carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. It also supports NFC-powered Lost Mode.

When someone finds a lost tag, they can scan it with a compatible mobile device. The tag can then display registered contact information or a short message.

The physical button can also trigger preset SmartThings routines for compatible connected devices.

Samsung says privacy remains a core part of the SmartTag experience. Location data is encrypted to help protect user information.

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 Availability

The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 will first launch in Korea on October 7, 2026. It will then reach the US, while additional markets are expected to follow in 2027.

The tracker will be available in White and Black. Samsung has not provided pricing in the supplied announcement.
