Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London, introducing its most advanced foldable smartphone to date. Replacing last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, the new Ultra model brings a faster processor, a larger battery, improved durability, enhanced Galaxy AI features, and upgraded cameras.

With the latest Snapdragon flagship chipset, Android 17-based One UI 9, and a redesigned titanium construction, Samsung is positioning the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as its ultimate productivity and premium foldable smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,100 (approximately Rs. 2.03 lakh) for the base model with 256GB of storage.

The smartphone is available in Graphite, Cream, and Violet Shadow colour options. Customers purchasing through Samsung’s online store can also choose an exclusive Green Shadow finish.

Pre-orders have begun in select global markets. Buyers will also receive a six-month Google AI Pro subscription with 5TB of cloud storage as part of the launch offer.

Samsung has not yet announced India pricing or the official sale date.

Bigger Displays and a More Durable Foldable Design

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features an 8-inch AMOLED inner display and a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover screen, with both supporting adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

Samsung says the main display can reach 3,000 nits of peak brightness and now features an anti-reflective coating for improved outdoor visibility.

The company has also introduced Flex Titanium technology, combining a titanium-alloy support layer with an upgraded titanium frame. According to Samsung, this design improves structural durability, absorbs impact more effectively, and helps reduce the visibility of the display crease over time.

The cover display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, while the rear panel uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Smarter Galaxy AI

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

Samsung has also upgraded the cooling system with a larger graphite chamber to maintain sustained performance during gaming, multitasking, and AI workloads.

Running Android 17-based One UI 9, the foldable introduces several new Galaxy AI capabilities.

These include Now Brief for personalized updates, Now Nudge for contextual suggestions, and deeper Gemini Intelligence integration. Samsung says Gemini can automate actions across more than 40 supported apps and services.

The company has also rebranded NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook, allowing users to organize notes, documents, images, recordings, and files into a unified workspace. A new AI Assistant Activity Dashboard lets users review all AI-generated actions in one place.

200MP Camera Gets HDR Boost

Samsung has retained its flagship 200MP primary camera, but the sensor now supports HDR capture in full-resolution mode. The triple-camera setup also includes a 50MP ultra-wide camera with macro photography support and a 10MP telephoto camera. There are 10MP selfie cameras on both the cover and inner displays for selfies and video calls. Photography upgrades include enhanced Nightography, support for 8K video recording at 30fps, Samsung’s new APV video codec, and Cine LUT tools for professional-grade colour grading.

Bigger Battery and Faster Charging

One of the biggest hardware upgrades is the battery.

Samsung has increased battery capacity from 4,400mAh on the previous model to 5,000mAh on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

The device supports 45W wired fast charging, 20W wireless charging, and includes connectivity options such as 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and USB Type-C.

Despite the larger battery, the foldable remains slim at 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, while weighing 215g. It also carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.
