ElevenLabs, a company known for its AI-powered text-to-speech technology, has now introduced Scribe, a new speech-to-text tool that promises unmatched accuracy. With this launch, ElevenLabs enters a competitive space alongside Google, Otter, Fireflies, and TurboScribe.
Scribe transcribes audio into text in 99 languages with high precision. It provides word-level timestamps, speaker diarisation to differentiate between multiple speakers, and audio-event tagging to mark pauses, background noise, and non-verbal sounds. ElevenLabs ensures that its transcriptions are structured for easy integration, making them useful for businesses, content creators, and researchers.
How Accurate is Scribe?
ElevenLabs tested Scribe against benchmark datasets like FLEURS and Common Voice. The tool outperformed models like Gemini 2.0 Flash, Whisper Large V3, and Deepgram Nova-3 in accuracy. Scribe delivers the lowest word error rates across multiple languages. In Italian, the accuracy reaches 98.7%, while in English, it is 96.7%. Additionally, it performs exceptionally well in 97 other languages, including less-supported ones such as Serbian, Cantonese, and Malayalam.
Developers can integrate Scribe via the ElevenLabs Speech-to-Text API to receive structured JSON transcripts. The transcripts include non-speech event markers, speaker labels, and word-level timestamps. For general users, Scribe is available on the ElevenLabs dashboard. Users can upload audio or video files to get formatted transcripts instantly.
Pricing and Availability
Scribe is priced at $0.40 per hour of input audio. As an introductory offer, ElevenLabs is providing an extra discount for the next six weeks. Currently, the tool is optimized for high accuracy, but a low-latency version for real-time transcription will be available soon.
Scribe is an ideal solution for businesses that need accurate meeting transcriptions. Content creators can use it to generate subtitles and captions, while researchers and journalists can benefit from precise speech-to-text conversions. Musicians and lyricists can also transcribe song lyrics easily using this tool.
