Instead, it is adding AI tools, translation features, and cross-platform support into an audio wearable category that is changing quickly.

The Xiaomi Clip Open-Ear Earbuds arrive with a clip-on design, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, AI-powered assistance, and support for Apple’s Find My network. More importantly, Xiaomi appears to be pushing earbuds beyond music playback and into productivity territory.

Traditional earbuds sit inside the ear canal. Open-ear wearables follow a different approach. They rest outside the ear and allow users to stay aware of their surroundings.

Xiaomi uses a clip-on form factor here. Each earbud weighs around 5.5g. The design aims to reduce ear fatigue during long sessions while keeping users connected to external sounds.

Xiaomi has equipped the wearable with an 11mm dynamic driver featuring a microcrystalline metal-coated diaphragm.

The company says the driver supports a frequency range from 20Hz to 48kHz. The earbuds also support the LHDC 5.0 codec and carry Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification.

For calls, Xiaomi uses a three-microphone setup alongside a VPU bone-conduction microphone. Noise often creates problems during calls. So Xiaomi says its system separates environmental sounds from human voices to improve clarity.

Another addition focuses on privacy. Xiaomi has implemented a directional acoustic structure designed to reduce sound leakage through reverse sound waves. That may matter because open-ear devices often struggle with privacy concerns in public spaces.

Apple support appears to be an unexpected move

One detail stands out.

Xiaomi says the earbuds support Apple’s Find My feature. Users can locate the charging case and even track individual earbuds separately. This support expands compatibility beyond Xiaomi’s own ecosystem.

The wearable also works with Android and iOS devices and supports dual-device connectivity. That creates an interesting shift because ecosystem walls around accessories often remain strict. Xiaomi appears to be reducing friction rather than increasing it.

Battery, pricing, and availability details

The Xiaomi Clip includes a 60mAh battery in each earbud and a 510mAh battery inside the charging case. The company claims a 10-minute charge delivers up to four hours of playback.

Users can get up to nine hours on a single charge and as much as 38 hours with the charging case in AAC mode. The wearable carries an IP57 rating for water and dust resistance.

Pricing starts at CNY 849, or roughly Rs. 12,000. Xiaomi is currently offering an introductory price of CNY 799. Buyers can choose from Obsidian Black, Parrot Purple, Pearl White, and Satin Gold.
