Vivo X Fold6 Review

Review in Short

  • The Vivo X Fold6 costs ₹2,19,999 in India for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant.
  • Its 8.02-inch inner display and 6.51-inch cover screen support adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz.
  • The 200-megapixel ZEISS main camera and 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera headline its photography upgrades.
  • The 6,900mAh battery supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.
  • OriginOS 7, based on Android 17, adds multitasking features and AI-powered productivity tools.

The premium foldable smartphone market is becoming increasingly competitive, with Samsung and Google pushing their flagship devices towards better cameras, performance and productivity. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold have raised expectations for what book-style foldables can deliver. Vivo is entering this competition with the X Fold6, priced at ₹2,19,999 in India. It brings a 200-megapixel ZEISS main camera, a 6,900mAh battery and OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. The phone also features a newer MediaTek processor and large inner and cover displays designed for multitasking. However, it costs ₹70,000 more than the Vivo X Fold5’s launch price. I have been using the X Fold6 to assess how its upgrades translate into everyday use and how it holds up against Samsung and Google’s premium foldables.

Design and display

The Vivo X Fold6 retains a familiar design with rounded corners, a flat metal frame and a prominent circular camera module. Nebula Teal gives it a distinctive finish, while Prism Black offers a more understated look. Vivo also includes a protective case in the box.

The phone carries an IP5X dust-resistance rating and IPX8 and IPX9 water-resistance ratings. These protections add reassurance, although they do not make the device suitable for routine underwater use.

The inner display measures 8.02 inches and offers a 2504 × 2312-pixel resolution. The 6.51-inch cover display has a 2528 × 1120-pixel resolution. Both screens support LTPO technology and adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The inner screen makes documents, webpages and multitasking more comfortable. Its crease remains visible under certain lighting, but it rarely distracts during regular use. The cover display also handles everyday smartphone tasks without requiring users to unfold the device.

OS and AI features

The Vivo X Fold6 runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. Origin Workbench supports up to five apps simultaneously and allows users to move text, images and documents between them.

Desktop Mode adds resizable app windows when connected to an external display. Vivo also includes AI Cross-App Drag, AI Recorder and Smart Call Assistant. These tools support tasks such as extracting text, translating content, creating transcripts and summarising calls.

Jovi, Vivo’s AI agent, supports tasks across connected devices. Origin Island’s Snap & Go feature can recognise travel or event information in screenshots and suggest adding it to Google Calendar.

Together, these features give the large inner display a practical role in work and everyday organisation. Their usefulness will depend on how reliably they handle individual tasks and how well they fit into existing workflows.

Performance

The Vivo X Fold6 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, co-developed with Vivo. The review configuration includes 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

In benchmark testing, the phone scored 1,933 in Geekbench single-core, 7,137 in multi-core and 13,925 in the GPU test. Its AnTuTu score reached 3,278,189.

The results provide a useful reference for evaluating the hardware, but benchmark scores alone do not determine everyday performance. During the review, demanding games such as BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile ran smoothly. Extended gaming sessions produced some minor heating.

Vivo also claims its Origin Workbench optimisations reduce power consumption by more than 10% under heavy workloads compared with the previous generation. This remains a company-reported figure rather than an independently measured result.

Camera

The camera system is one of the Vivo X Fold6’s major upgrades. It features a 200-megapixel ZEISS main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and optical image stabilisation. The setup also includes a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-602 periscope telephoto camera.

The main camera captures detailed photographs, particularly in daylight. Its high resolution also provides flexibility when cropping images. Optical stabilisation and ZEISS T* coating support low-light photography by helping control camera shake and unwanted reflections.

The telephoto camera offers 3x optical zoom and up to 100x ZEISS Hyper Zoom. However, the highest magnifications rely heavily on digital processing and cannot match native optical detail.

The phone supports multiple portrait focal lengths and 4K video recording at 60fps with Dolby Vision. Overall, the upgraded main and telephoto cameras make the X Fold6 a compelling option for foldable photography.

Battery and charging

The Vivo X Fold6 packs a 6,900mAh battery, up from 6,000mAh on the X Fold5. It lasted a full day during the review, including regular use of the inner display and multitasking features.

Charging support includes 80W wired and 40W wireless charging. Vivo has retained the previous generation’s charging speeds despite increasing battery capacity.

The phone uses fifth-generation silicon-anode technology and a third-generation semi-solid-state battery design. Its large battery makes it suitable for users who frequently switch between apps, stream content and work on the inner screen.

Verdict

The Vivo X Fold6 makes a strong case for itself in the premium foldable segment, competing with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Its 200-megapixel ZEISS main camera, 6,900mAh battery and large inner display give it a well-rounded feature set. OriginOS 7, based on Android 17, also adds multitasking tools that make the most of the foldable form factor.

In benchmark tests, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra delivers higher scores across single-core, multi-core and GPU performance. The Vivo X Fold6, meanwhile, performs ahead of the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold in multi-core and GPU results, while the Pixel leads in single-core performance. These results highlight how the three devices approach performance differently, rather than establishing one clear winner across every area.

At ₹2,19,999, the Vivo X Fold6 sits firmly in the premium category. Ultimately, the choice between Vivo, Samsung and Google will depend on whether buyers prioritise camera capabilities, benchmark performance, software experience or everyday productivity.
