Sony has expanded its premium audio lineup in India with the launch of the Sony LinkBuds Clip. Priced at Rs 18,990, the new true wireless earbuds stand out with an open-ear clip design that lets users enjoy music while staying aware of their surroundings. The earbuds also pack AI-enhanced calling, Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, and a claimed battery life of up to 37 hours.
The latest addition to Sony’s LinkBuds family targets users who want comfortable all-day wear without completely blocking ambient sound. The earbuds are now available through leading online and offline retail channels across India.
What Makes the Sony LinkBuds Clip Different?
Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, the Sony LinkBuds Clip use a clip-style open-ear design that leaves the ear canal unobstructed. This allows users to hear traffic, conversations, or other surrounding sounds while listening to music or taking calls.
Sony says the included fitting cushions improve comfort and stability for different ear shapes. The earbuds are also designed to reduce sound leakage while maintaining environmental awareness. An IPX4 water resistance rating adds protection against sweat and light rain, making them suitable for workouts and daily commutes.
What Audio Features Do the Earbuds Offer?
The Sony LinkBuds Clip feature 10mm drivers and support SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. Sony has equipped the earbuds with its Digital Sound Enhancement Engine, which restores audio details lost during compressed playback.
Users can personalize their listening experience through the Sony Sound Connect app, which includes a 10-band equalizer. The earbuds also support 360 Reality Audio and a Background Music effect for a more immersive experience.
Sony has included three listening modes. Standard mode is designed for everyday use, Voice Boost improves speech clarity for calls and podcasts, while Sound Leakage Reduction minimizes audio escaping into the surrounding environment. Scene-based Listening automatically adjusts audio settings based on activities like walking, running, or exercising.
AI Calling and Smart Connectivity
Sony is focusing heavily on communication features with the LinkBuds Clip. The earbuds combine dual microphones, Precise Voice Pickup technology, a bone conduction sensor, and AI-powered noise reduction to isolate the user’s voice during calls.
The AI system has been trained using different voice and environmental sound patterns to improve call quality in noisy surroundings.
Connectivity is handled through Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint support, allowing users to stay connected to two devices simultaneously. Android users get Google Fast Pair, while Windows devices support Swift Pair for quicker setup. Users can also use either earbud independently.
The earbuds additionally support hands-free access to Google Gemini when paired with compatible Android smartphones.
Price, Availability, and Battery Life
Sony claims the LinkBuds Clip can deliver up to nine hours of playback on a single charge. The bundled charging case extends the total battery life to as much as 37 hours. A quick three-minute charge provides up to one hour of listening.
The earbuds weigh around 6.4g each, while the charging case weighs approximately 42g and charges through a USB Type-C port.
