News in short

  • Samsung Health can now start Sleep Coaching with three days of sleep data from the past two weeks.
  • The app creates personalised sleep programmes lasting four to eight weeks.
  • A new Sleep Balance graph summarises five sleep indicators.
  • Running Coach expands from 10 to 12 training levels for different experience levels.
  • Users can import Strava Routes for running, trail running and cycling into Samsung Health.

Samsung is updating its Samsung Health app with easier Sleep Coaching, more personalised guidance and expanded running features. The update aims to help users understand their sleep patterns and build consistent fitness routines.

The biggest change is the amount of data required to begin Sleep Coaching. Users previously needed seven days of sleep data within a month. With the update, they can start with just three days of data collected over the past two weeks.

During setup, users answer questions about sleep regularity, night-time interruptions, alcohol and caffeine consumption, and overall sleep satisfaction. Samsung Health combines these responses with sleep data to assign a personalised Sleep Animal symbol and create a coaching programme lasting four to eight weeks.

The programme adjusts its recommendations weekly as sleep patterns and lifestyle habits change. It also provides daily checklists and practical suggestions, such as avoiding screens an hour before bedtime, limiting late caffeine and stretching outdoors after waking up.

These recommendations aim to turn sleep tracking into actionable habits. However, the feature is a wellness tool, not a substitute for medical advice or treatment for persistent sleep problems.

Samsung Health introduces a new Sleep Balance graph

The update also adds a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph. It brings together five indicators: sleep duration, sleep regularity, time spent awake during the night, sleep satisfaction and Energy Score.

The visual report helps users review their sleep patterns and identify areas that may need attention. Samsung Health also provides morning insights about the previous night’s sleep, along with weekly and final reports.

By connecting daily habits with longer-term trends, Samsung aims to make its sleep guidance easier to understand. Users can review changes over time instead of relying only on an individual night’s sleep score.

The insights depend on the data collected by the app and information users provide during coaching. They should therefore be viewed as guidance rather than a complete assessment of sleep health.

Running Coach adds two training levels

Samsung is expanding Running Coach from 10 to 12 training levels. The additional tiers target intermediate and advanced runners who want more challenging training plans.

The app continues to create personalised programmes using a 12-minute running test or the user’s historical running data. The expanded levels give runners more options as they work towards higher performance goals.

Samsung Health is also improving workout sharing. Users can export running data into templates designed for social media, making it easier to share personal records, achievements and route highlights.

These changes add more progression options for runners who have moved beyond beginner-level training. The usefulness of each plan will depend on the quality of the available running data and the user’s fitness goals.

Samsung Health adds Strava Routes integration

The update introduces Strava Routes integration, extending connectivity between Samsung Health and the fitness platform. Users can import saved Strava Routes directly into Samsung Health for running, trail running and cycling.

The integration could make route planning more convenient for people who use Strava to discover or save routes but rely on Samsung Health for fitness tracking.

Samsung says the updated features will roll out progressively through Samsung Health app updates starting in October 2026. Availability may vary by device, region and software version.

Overall, the update strengthens Samsung Health’s focus on personalised wellness and fitness. Easier access to Sleep Coaching, additional running levels and route integration give users more ways to build consistent routines within Samsung’s health ecosystem.
