Samsung is expanding its wireless audio lineup with Galaxy Buds On, a pair of open-ear earbuds designed for comfortable listening while staying aware of surrounding sounds. The company announced US availability on October 28, positioning the new earbuds for everyday activities such as walking, running and taking calls.

Unlike conventional in-ear earbuds, Galaxy Buds On uses a clip-on design that rests around the ear. Samsung says the design balances a secure fit with low pressure, while its audio features aim to deliver clear sound without completely isolating users from their surroundings.

The earbuds also integrate with Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone ecosystem. Users can access voice assistants, record quick voice memos and manage selected functions without reaching for their phones.

Samsung Galaxy Buds On price and availability

Samsung Galaxy Buds On will be available in the US for $229, with sales scheduled to begin in early November 2026. The company has announced Black as the available colour option.

Samsung has not provided an India launch date or Indian pricing in the announcement. The US price therefore should not be treated as an official Indian price.

The earbuds are designed to complement conventional in-ear models such as the Galaxy Buds4 Pro. Samsung suggests using in-ear earbuds when noise cancellation and focused listening matter most, while Galaxy Buds On suits activities that benefit from hands-free convenience and greater awareness of the surroundings.

Clip-on design focuses on everyday comfort

Galaxy Buds On weighs 6.65g per earbud and features a band designed to secure each unit around the ear. Samsung says it used more than 119 million ear data points, alongside AI-assisted optimisation and physics simulations, to refine the design for different ear shapes.

The company also used computational modelling to optimise speaker and battery placement. These efforts aimed to reduce pressure around the ear while maintaining a secure fit.

The earbuds support tap controls and come with a slim charging case. However, comfort can vary depending on ear shape and individual preferences. Buyers should assess the fit before deciding whether an open-ear design suits extended listening sessions.

Audio features aim to balance sound and awareness

Samsung has equipped Galaxy Buds On with a TwinBoost Speaker and automatic volume adjustment. The latter adjusts volume based on surrounding noise, helping users listen in different environments.

The earbuds also feature Audio Leakage Reduction technology. Samsung says the system uses reversed sound waves from the rear of the speaker to reduce sound escaping outward, helping keep playback more private.

Galaxy Buds On is powered by the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform. Samsung says its high-efficiency Class-D amplifier helps optimise power consumption during playback.

For calls, the earbuds use three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit. The vibration sensor detects speech through movement in the skin and bones, helping the system distinguish the user’s voice from surrounding sounds. Machine-learning processing is also designed to reduce noise such as traffic horns and construction sounds.

These are Samsung’s stated capabilities; independent testing will be needed to assess sound quality, leakage and call clarity in everyday conditions.

Gemini Live and hands-free Galaxy features

Galaxy Buds On connects with Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone and AI ecosystem. Users can access Gemini Live through a voice command, provided the relevant device and service support the feature.

The earbuds also support Quick Voice Memo. Users can long-press the earbuds and speak to capture a thought or reminder. Bixby can then help users search recordings through voice interactions.

Head Gestures add another hands-free option. Users can nod to accept calls or shake their heads to decline them. Samsung says these gestures can also support actions such as dismissing alarms and handling spoken notifications.

Galaxy users can set up the earbuds by opening the charging case near a compatible phone or tablet. Samsung says they do not need to install the Galaxy Wearable app for the initial connection. Users can adjust volume and equaliser settings through the Buds shortcut in Quick Panel.

Feature availability may vary by device, software version and supported services.

Battery life and what buyers should know

Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of music playback on a single charge. With the charging case, total playback can reach up to 38 hours.

Actual battery life will depend on volume, connection conditions and the features in use. Samsung has not specified all the testing conditions behind these figures in the supplied announcement.

Galaxy Buds On combines an open-ear fit, long claimed battery life and Galaxy ecosystem integration. Its appeal will depend on whether users prioritise environmental awareness and hands-free controls over the isolation offered by traditional in-ear earbuds.

For now, the product is confirmed for the US market. Buyers in India will need to wait for Samsung to announce local availability and pricing.
