Poco has expanded its X8 smartphone lineup with the launch of the Poco X8s in select global markets. The new model combines a relatively compact 6.35-inch display with a 6,330mAh battery, 100W wired charging and a triple rear camera system.
The smartphone is currently available through Shopee in Vietnam. It comes in Black, Blue and White colour options, with two RAM and storage configurations. The company has not announced an India launch in the supplied information.
The Poco X8s stands out for combining a smaller display with a large battery. It also includes a dedicated telephoto camera, a feature that could interest users who regularly photograph distant subjects.
Poco X8s price and availability
The Poco X8s starts at VND 11.5 million, approximately ₹42,000, for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The higher-end configuration with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage costs VND 14 million, roughly ₹51,000.
These are approximate conversions of the reported Vietnamese prices, not official Indian prices. The handset is currently listed for purchase through Shopee in Vietnam.
Poco has not confirmed Indian pricing or local availability in the information provided. Buyers in India should therefore wait for an official announcement before treating the converted figures as expected retail prices.
Poco X8s specifications and display
The Poco X8s features a 6.35-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,220 x 2,656 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a claimed peak brightness of 3,500 nits.
The screen also offers 12-bit colour depth and DCI-P3 wide colour gamut support. These specifications indicate a focus on smooth scrolling, colour reproduction and outdoor visibility. Actual brightness and viewing experience can vary with content and usage conditions.
The phone runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. It also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset powers the device. The processor uses a 4nm manufacturing process and reaches a peak clock speed of 2.8GHz, according to the supplied specifications.
The smartphone offers up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. These configurations provide scope for multitasking and storing photos, videos and applications. However, real-world performance will depend on software optimisation and workload.
Triple rear cameras include a 50MP telephoto sensor
The Poco X8s features three rear cameras. The primary camera uses a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 sensor, an f/1.77 aperture and optical image stabilisation.
A second 50-megapixel camera provides telephoto capabilities with an f/2.2 aperture. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera completes the rear setup.
The dedicated telephoto camera gives users a separate option for photographing subjects at a distance. Optical image stabilisation on the main camera can also help reduce blur caused by hand movement. Camera quality, however, will depend on image processing and performance across different lighting conditions.
For selfies and video calls, the phone includes a 32-megapixel front camera.
Battery, charging and connectivity
The Poco X8s packs a 6,330mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging. The battery capacity could help users who prioritise endurance, while fast charging may reduce the time needed to recharge the phone.
The device supports 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS and a USB Type-C port. It measures 8.06mm in thickness and weighs approximately 187g.
What the Poco X8s brings to the lineup
The Poco X8s combines a compact display, a large battery, fast charging and a dedicated telephoto camera. Its specifications suggest a focus on users who want a manageable screen size without giving up battery capacity or camera versatility.
However, its value for Indian buyers remains uncertain until Poco confirms local availability and pricing. Independent testing will also be needed to establish battery endurance, camera performance and sustained gaming capabilities.
