  • Meta has launched a new smart glasses lineup called Meta Glasses starting at $299.
  • The glasses feature Meta AI, built-in speakers, a camera, and live translation support.
  • Meta says the wearable delivers more than eight hours of battery life with up to 40 additional hours through the charging case.

Meta has launched a new range of AI-powered smart glasses called Meta Glasses, marking its latest push into wearable technology. The new lineup starts at $299 and arrives without Ray-Ban or Oakley branding, despite being developed with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica.

The launch expands Meta’s wearable portfolio at a time when competition in AI-powered hardware is intensifying. The company is positioning Meta Glasses as an affordable entry point into smart eyewear, bringing AI features, live translation, and hands-free assistance to a wider audience.

What Do The New Glasses Offer?

The new Meta Glasses combine traditional eyewear with AI-powered functionality. While the glasses do not include a display, they feature a built-in camera, personal speakers, and direct access to Meta AI.

Users can activate the assistant through a dedicated button. By default, the button launches Meta AI, although it can also be customized for other functions.

Meta says its AI assistant can answer questions, provide information, understand surroundings through the camera, and help users manage daily tasks. The system is designed to work hands-free, allowing users to interact without constantly reaching for their smartphones.

Battery life is another major focus. According to Meta, the glasses offer more than eight hours of use on a single charge. The accompanying charging case adds up to 40 hours of additional power, making the device suitable for extended daily use.

Which Models Are Available?

Meta introduced multiple frame styles to appeal to different users.

The Meta Adventurer features a rectangular design and comes in both standard and large sizes. Meanwhile, the Meta Fury adopts a boxier look inspired by popular men’s eyewear styles.

The company has also unveiled Meta Glasses by Kylie, a slimmer oval-shaped design created in collaboration with model and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner. The collection includes multiple color and lens combinations across participating markets.

How Is Meta Expanding AI Features?

Meta is using the launch to introduce new AI capabilities beyond voice assistance.

One of the most notable additions is pedestrian navigation. The upcoming feature will provide turn-by-turn walking directions directly through the smart glasses experience. This could reduce the need to repeatedly check a smartphone while navigating city streets.

Meta is also expanding its live translation feature. The company confirmed support for 14 additional languages, including Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese. This expansion could make the glasses more useful for travelers and multilingual users.

Why Does This Launch Matter?

Meta continues to strengthen its position in the growing smart eyewear market. Industry data from Counterpoint Research estimates that Meta and EssilorLuxottica together account for more than 80% of the segment.

The timing is also significant. The announcement comes just days after Snap introduced its consumer-focused Specs smart glasses at a much higher starting price of $2,195.

With new glasses priced at $299, Meta appears focused on bringing AI-powered wearables to a broader audience while expanding its ecosystem beyond the successful Ray-Ban and Oakley partnerships. As AI increasingly moves from smartphones to wearable devices, Meta Glasses could play an important role in shaping the next phase of consumer technology.
