- A new leak suggests the iPhone Ultra could feature a 4,883mAh dual-cell battery.
- Apple may use a two-cell battery design similar to Samsung and Google foldables.
- The leak also hints at larger batteries for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
- Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone Ultra alongside the iPhone 18 lineup in September.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone, widely expected to launch as the iPhone Ultra, has surfaced in another leak. This time, the spotlight is on its battery. A new report claims the upcoming foldable could pack a 4,883mAh dual-cell battery, bringing it closer to rival foldable smartphones from Samsung and Google.
If accurate, the leak offers one of the clearest looks yet at the battery hardware Apple could use in its long-rumoured foldable device.
iPhone Ultra battery details tipped
According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Apple’s battery supplier recently filed regulatory documents for two battery cells with capacities of 1,921mAh and 2,962mAh. Together, they add up to 4,883mAh.
The report suggests Apple will use a dual-cell battery design, a common approach in foldable smartphones. This allows manufacturers to split the battery across both halves of the device while maintaining a slim profile.
For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 features a 4,400mAh battery, while Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold packs a 5,015mAh battery.
Bigger batteries expected across the iPhone 18 lineup
The same leak also points to battery upgrades for Apple’s upcoming flagship models.
The iPhone 18 Pro could feature a battery of up to 4,288mAh, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may receive a much larger 5,567mAh battery. If these figures prove accurate, the Pro Max would see one of the biggest battery upgrades in recent years.
However, battery capacity alone does not determine real-world battery life. Display technology, chipset efficiency, software optimisation, and foldable hardware all play an equally important role.
What it means for Indian buyers
Although Apple has not officially confirmed the iPhone Ultra, the steady stream of leaks suggests the company is preparing to enter the foldable smartphone segment later this year.
For Indian consumers, the iPhone Ultra is expected to compete directly with premium foldables such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series and Google’s Pixel Fold lineup. Battery life will be a key factor, especially considering the larger displays and multitasking capabilities that foldable devices offer.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone Ultra alongside the iPhone 18 series during its September launch event, where the company will reveal the complete specifications, pricing, and battery performance claims.
