iOS 27 Could Finally Fix the Messy AirPods Settings Menu

News in Short

  • Apple is reportedly redesigning the AirPods settings interface in iOS 27.
  • The new layout may make AirPods controls easier to find and use.
  • The update is expected to arrive across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
  • Apple could officially reveal the changes during WWDC 2026 in June.

Apple may finally be preparing a major cleanup for one of the most cluttered parts of the iPhone experience. According to a new report, iOS 27 will introduce a redesigned AirPods settings interface that aims to simplify how users manage features and controls.

The reported redesign could arrive alongside iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. Apple is expected to unveil the software updates during WWDC 2026 on June 8.

Why Is Apple Redesigning the AirPods Settings Menu?

The current AirPods settings page has changed very little since the original AirPods launched. However, Apple has continuously added new features over the years. As a result, the menu has become crowded and harder to navigate.

Features such as head gestures, adaptive audio, hearing aid tools, sleep detection, and personalized controls now sit inside the same settings structure. Consequently, users often need multiple taps to locate important options.

Reports suggest iOS 27 will reorganize these controls with a cleaner information hierarchy. Apple reportedly wants the layout to feel more functional, streamlined, and easier to understand.

The AirPods settings panel currently appears at the top of the Settings app whenever connected AirPods are detected. That behavior is expected to remain unchanged.

Will AirPods Get a Dedicated App?

Despite the redesign, Apple still does not appear ready to launch a standalone AirPods app. Devices like the Apple Watch and Vision Pro already use dedicated companion apps on the iPhone. However, AirPods settings will reportedly remain inside the main Settings app.

That decision suggests Apple still views AirPods as an extension of the iPhone experience instead of a separate product category.

Even so, the updated interface could significantly improve usability. Better organization may also help users discover newer features that currently remain buried inside menus.

What Else Could iOS 27 Bring?

The AirPods redesign is only one part of Apple’s broader software push for 2026. Reports indicate Apple is also preparing a major Siri overhaul powered by newer AI models and chatbot-style interactions.

Interestingly, the report claims Google Gemini technology may play a role in Apple’s next-generation AI strategy. That could become one of the biggest talking points during WWDC 2026.

Apple has not officially confirmed the iOS 27 AirPods redesign yet. However, with WWDC just weeks away, more details may surface soon. If accurate, iOS 27 could finally make AirPods settings feel less overwhelming and far more user-friendly.

For users deeply tied to Apple’s ecosystem, that change may quietly become one of the most practical software upgrades this year.
