Google could soon make Pixel smartphones more customizable with a new Photo Shuffle feature inspired by Apple’s iPhone. Evidence found in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 5 suggests Google is testing a wallpaper shuffling system that lets users automatically rotate their favorite photos at customizable intervals. If released, the feature would give Pixel owners much more control over their home and lock screen wallpapers without relying on third-party apps.
The discovery comes from code uncovered in the latest Android beta, indicating Google is expanding an existing Pixel wallpaper capability.
What Is Google’s New Photo Shuffle Feature?
The upcoming Photo Shuffle feature would allow Pixel users to create a wallpaper album using photos of family members, pets, travel memories, or any favorite images. Users could also choose an existing album instead of building one from scratch.
Unlike the current implementation, the new feature is expected to let users decide exactly when wallpapers change. Available options may include hourly, daily, at sunrise, at sunset, or with a simple tap on the screen.
