Apple HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K details leak

Apple is preparing to expand its smart home lineup with a new touchscreen hub, an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K. A fresh report has revealed several details about the upcoming devices ahead of the company’s October 13 “Welcome home” event in New York.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new smart home hub will be called HomeView. It is expected to support Siri AI and work as a central control point for compatible smart home devices.

The upcoming products could also bring hardware upgrades, new colour options and changes to Apple’s connected home experience. However, Apple has not officially confirmed the specifications or launch dates.

Apple HomeView could feature an A18 chip and Siri AI

HomeView is expected to feature a touchscreen display and an A18 chip. The report says the device will support Siri AI for voice-based controls, potentially making it a central interface for managing a connected home.

Apple may offer two versions of the device. The tabletop model will reportedly feature a metal speaker base, while the wall-mounted version will use a flat, square wall plate.

The tabletop version is expected to offer better sound quality than the current HomePod mini. It could be available in Gray, Silver, Starlight and Rose finishes. The wall-mounted model may come in Gray and Silver.

HomeView will reportedly support a selection of Apple apps. However, it may not include an App Store for third-party applications.

Apple is expected to unveil HomeView on October 13, although its release could follow around mid-November. This means buyers may have to wait several weeks after the announcement to purchase the device.

Apple Home Collection could expand smart home controls

HomeView may arrive alongside an Apple Home Collection of smart home accessories developed with partner brands, including LG and Schneider Electric.

The reported lineup includes a smart doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a floodlight camera.

These accessories could help Apple expand its smart home ecosystem beyond speakers and streaming devices. Users could potentially manage more household functions through a central interface.

However, the accessories may not all be available immediately. LG’s products for HomeView reportedly will not ship until later this year at the earliest.

Apple has not yet confirmed the full accessory lineup or its compatibility details. Availability could also vary by product and market.

HomePod mini 2 tipped to get an S10 chip

Apple is also expected to introduce a new HomePod mini. The updated speaker may use the S10 chip found in the Apple Watch Series 10, replacing the S5 chip used in the current HomePod mini.

The processor change could support improvements to the speaker’s overall capabilities. However, the report does not establish the extent of any performance, sound quality or Siri upgrades.

The new HomePod mini is expected to be available in five colours: Green, Pink, Blue, White and Midnight.

Apple is reportedly planning to unveil the speaker on October 13 and launch it on Friday, October 30. Pricing and other specifications remain unconfirmed.

New Apple TV 4K could feature an A19 chip

The next Apple TV 4K is tipped to use Apple’s A19 chip, which reportedly has 8GB of RAM. This would mark a processor upgrade for Apple’s streaming device.

The report also suggests that the new Apple TV 4K may include built-in microphones for Siri AI. If accurate, this could make voice interaction easier without requiring users to rely entirely on the remote.

Apple may also update the Siri Remote with a built-in speaker. This could help users locate a misplaced remote more easily.

These features remain unconfirmed. Apple has not shared official details about the next Apple TV 4K’s hardware, software or streaming capabilities.

Apple’s smart home plans: Expected launch dates

Apple’s October 13 event is expected to introduce all three products, but their availability may differ.

HomeView could arrive around mid-November, according to the report. The new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, meanwhile, are expected to go on sale on October 30.

The reported staggered rollout suggests that Apple may announce its broader smart home plans before every product becomes available. The timing of the Apple Home Collection accessories also remains uncertain.

For now, these details should be treated as leaks rather than confirmed specifications. Apple’s upcoming event should clarify the product names, features, pricing and availability.
