Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review: A Worthy Upgrade Over Galaxy S24 Ultra?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is here, offering the latest flagship smartphone at ₹1,29,999 for the 12 GB/256 GB variant. It brings deep artificial intelligence integration, a massive display, and a refined user experience. With upgraded cameras, a powerful processor, and new AI capabilities, it promises to be a productivity and entertainment powerhouse. It will be interesting to see how the phone convinces users as a successor to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Design: Lighter and Well-Balanced

Samsung sticks to its signature block-like design but makes the Galaxy S25 Ultra 14 grams lighter than its predecessor. The even weight distribution makes it easy to hold. The back panel, however, picks up fingerprints, and a matte finish like the Vivo X200 Pro would have been better. The phone does wobble on flat surfaces due to its protruding camera lenses. But it doesn’t heat up, even when used as a hotspot.

Display: Brighter, Bigger, and More Immersive

The 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display is a major highlight. With a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, it delivers vivid colors and excellent contrast. Whether you’re streaming videos, browsing, or gaming, the experience is smooth with no frame drops. Samsung has improved the viewing angles and clarity, making it one of the best screens in the smartphone market. Compared to the S24 Ultra, the display is slightly larger and offers better overall brightness and visibility.

Performance and Productivity: AI at Its Best

Powered by the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Galaxy S25 Ultra ensures a smooth user experience. Samsung’s One UI 7.0, running on Android 15, enhances usability with new AI features.

The AI-powered tools allow users to transcribe conversations, correct colors in photos, create artistic images, and even upscale edited pictures. The real-time interpreter is incredibly useful, making communication seamless across languages. The Circle to Search feature is now more intuitive and delivers customized results. While the S24 Ultra had AI-driven enhancements, the S25 Ultra refines them further for a more seamless experience.

Camera: A Significant Ultrawide Upgrade

The camera system remains largely unchanged, but Samsung has made an important upgrade. The ultrawide lens now features a 50 MP sensor instead of 12 MP, improving image detail. The other three cameras include a 200 MP main sensor, a 50 MP periscope telephoto, and a 10 MP telephoto lens.

The main camera captures sharp, color-accurate photos at any time of the day. The ultrawide lens delivers impressive edge clarity with no distortion. The periscope lens preserves details up to 10x zoom, while 3x and 5x zoom shots maintain excellent clarity. Portrait mode accurately separates the subject from the background.

The front 12 MP camera remains unchanged but still delivers solid selfies and portrait shots. With deep AI integration, users can enhance and edit their images creatively. While the camera improvements may not justify an upgrade from the S24 Ultra alone, they do offer a noticeable boost for photography enthusiasts.

Battery: Reliable but Could Have Been Bigger

The 5,000 mAh battery offers solid endurance, easily lasting a full day with normal usage. However, considering the massive 6.9-inch display, Samsung could have pushed beyond 5,000 mAh, as some competitors offer 6,000 mAh batteries.

Charging is limited to 45W wired and 15W wireless, with no charger included in the box. A 45W charger takes over an hour to fully charge the device. If the battery level is above 20%, charging speeds improve, reaching 80% in around 50 minutes.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is a powerhouse of AI features, offering a natural and intuitive experience. The large display, powerful processor, and excellent camera upgrades make it a great choice for those upgrading from older Galaxy devices.

For users switching from the S24 Ultra, the differences may not be significant enough to justify an upgrade, as both phones offer a similar experience. However, for those prioritizing AI-driven capabilities and looking for a new premium smartphone, the S25 Ultra is a complete package that delivers on all fronts.

While Apple users are still waiting for AI to integrate fully into iPhones, and Google is refining its AI game with the Pixel series, Samsung leads the way in delivering an AI-driven smartphone experience.
