Nothing Phone 3 Users Can Now “Vibe Code” Personal Apps — Here’s How

Key Highlights

  • Nothing’s Essential Apps Builder enters public beta via the Playground hub on Nothing Phone 3.
  • Users can create personal apps using plain text prompts — a process called vibe coding.
  • Beta supports features like location-based reminders and contact widgets.
  • Wider rollout and advanced functions planned after the beta stabilizes later this year.

Nothing has officially opened beta access for its Essential Apps Builder, the company’s AI-powered app creation tool. Rolling out through the Playground hub on the Nothing Phone 3, the builder lets users create personalized apps simply by describing them in natural language. The launch marks a major step in Nothing’s plan to develop an AI-native operating system.

What Is the Essential Apps Builder?

Introduced as part of Nothing’s Essential Suite of AI tools in September 2025, the Essential Apps Builder turns everyday ideas into real apps and widgets — no traditional coding skills required. It relies on a conversational technology called “vibe coding,” which interprets user prompts and generates corresponding apps instantly.

Initially available to internal testers, the beta version is now expanding to the public in batches. Users must register on the waitlist within the Playground hub to gain access.

How to Use the Builder

Once activated within Playground, users can:

  1. Describe what they want — for instance, “an app that reminds me to call Dad when I get home.”
  2. Grant access to required phone data like location, calendar (read-only), and contacts.
  3. Preview and publish directly within the hub using clearer labels for drafts, live apps, and updates.

The beta currently supports creating location-based remindersagenda viewsmeeting countdowns, and contact shortcuts. It also offers a new dark mode and simplified publishing interface. Upcoming updates will unlock camera, microphone, Bluetooth, and notification access.

What Happens Next?

Nothing confirmed that as the beta stabilizes, the builder will reach other Nothing and CMF devices running Nothing OS 4.0 or later. A broader OS update expected in late February will enable features like activity recognition, weather API, and sensor data integration.

With this rollout, Nothing inches closer toward an AI-driven ecosystem where everyday users can create their own smart tools using simple words. The Nothing Essential App Builder could redefine how people interact with their phones — turning prompts into productivity.
