Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Launched in India

Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 with AI, 5G & Performance Boost

Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset. This new processor comes with exciting upgrades for budget smartphones. It promises better gaming, improved AI capabilities, and faster 5G connectivity. Realme, Oppo, and Honor are expected to introduce phones with this chipset in the coming months.

Built on Advanced 4nm Technology

For the first time, the Snapdragon 6 series features a 4nm process technology from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Previously, Qualcomm used Samsung’s 4nm node. This shift aims to deliver better efficiency and performance.

Powerful CPU and GPU Performance

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 features ARMv9-based CPU cores. It includes a Cortex-A720 prime core clocked at 2.3GHz, three A720 performance cores at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at 2.3GHz. The processor boasts a Kyro CPU and an Adreno GPU for better graphics rendering.

Qualcomm claims a 11% increase in CPU speed and 29% faster graphics performance compared to its predecessor. The power optimization is also 12% better, enhancing battery life for users.

AI and Camera Enhancements

This chipset introduces generative AI capabilities to the Snapdragon 6 series. With Qualcomm AI Engine and INT4 support, devices can process AI tasks faster and more efficiently, even with limited RAM.

For photography, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 includes triple 12-bit ISPs that support camera sensors up to 200MP. It allows 4K HDR video recording at 30fps and supports formats like HDR10, HLG, and 10-bit HEIF.

Smooth Gaming and Display Performance

Gamers will benefit from Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, which enhances graphics and performance. The chipset supports full-HD+ (1080+) resolution with up to 144Hz refresh rate, ensuring a smoother gaming experience.

Better Connectivity: 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 features a 5G modem with sub-6GHz and mmWave support. It delivers downlink speeds of up to 2.9Gbps. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Adaptive, and USB Type-C 3.1 for faster data transfer.

Memory and Storage Upgrades

The new chipset supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM with a speed of 3,200MHz. It also offers UFS 3.1 storage, allowing faster app loading and data access.

What’s Next?

Smartphone brands like Realme, Oppo, and Honor are expected to launch devices powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 in the coming months. With AI, gaming, and 5G upgrades, this chipset will make budget smartphones more powerful and efficient.
