From Finding Products to Getting the Right Price, Agentic AI Will Do It All
Google rolled out fresh AI shopping tools ahead of the holiday rush. The company wants to remove the tedious parts of buying things online. It now offers conversational shopping in Search, richer ideas in the Gemini app, agentic checkout, and an AI caller for nearby stores. These features aim to make shopping feel natural and fast.
Conversational shopping gets smarter with Google AI
Google updated AI Mode in Search to answer shopping questions in simple language. It can respond with visuals, prices, reviews, and inventory. It uses the massive Shopping Graph with over 50 billion listings. The system refreshes 2 billion listings every hour, so results usually remain accurate. You can ask about sweaters, gadgets, or skin care, and the AI tailors the layout. It may show photos or comparison tables depending on your query.
Gemini app adds visual ideas for shoppers
Google’s Gemini app now offers richer shopping ideas. It no longer gives plain text responses. It presents concepts with visuals and more context. This update is available only in the U.S. for now. Google says sponsored results will appear inside AI Mode, but not inside the Gemini mobile app yet.
Agentic checkout makes buying more seamless
Google introduced agentic checkout in Search and AI Mode. It works with partners like Wayfair, Chewy, Quince, and select Shopify stores. You can track an item’s price and get alerts when the price drops. Then you can let Google complete the purchase on the merchant site using Google Pay. The system asks for your approval first. You confirm payment and shipping details before Google checks out for you. Google says this feature helps shoppers save time and helps retailers recover interested buyers.
AI can now call local stores for you
Google also launched an AI tool that calls stores to check product availability. It relies on Duplex, Shopping Graph, and payments tech. You search for products “near me,” then choose “Let Google Call.” The AI then contacts nearby shops and returns a quick summary. The rollout covers toys, electronics, and health and beauty products in the U.S. Retailers can opt out anytime. Google ensures the AI identifies itself clearly during calls.
