Perplexity Comet Browser Lands on Windows in Beta

Perplexity’s Comet Browser Now Available for Windows Beta Testers

Windows users can now try Perplexity’s AI browser as beta invites roll out. Android version is in the works too.

After launching on macOS in May, Perplexity’s AI-powered Comet browser is now arriving on Windows — but only for selected beta testers. The company’s CEO Aravind Srinivas announced the development on X, saying that the Windows build is ready and invites are being sent.

Comet is designed to change how we interact with the web using something called agentic search, a smarter, action-based browsing approach powered by AI.

What Makes Comet Different?

Comet is not your average browser. It blends traditional browsing with AI tools that can understand tasks and take action.

For example, you can ask Comet to search for something complicated, and it won’t just show links — it will summarize, suggest, and act. It can also scan shopping carts for deals, dig through emails for missed messages, or even help you visualize fashion through its “Try on” AI image tool.

The browser is still in beta, but it’s clear that Perplexity is pushing boundaries here.

Expansion Plans Are Speeding Up

While Windows beta users are getting early access now, Android support is on the way too. Srinivas hinted that mobile development is “moving ahead of schedule,” meaning Android users might not have to wait too long.

Earlier, the browser was exclusive to Apple Silicon Macs. Now, this expansion shows that Perplexity is serious about turning Comet into a cross-platform experience.

Privacy Concerns Stir Debate

Comet hasn’t launched officially yet, but it’s already sparking conversations. A past podcast remark by Srinivas suggested that Comet might collect user data outside the app to improve results.

After criticism, Srinivas clarified that his words were taken out of context. He assured users that personalization for ads would remain optional.

Even with the clarification, Comet’s privacy model will be closely watched as it prepares for public release.

The Road Ahead

Comet is entering a crowded space. Competitors like Opera Neon, Google’s AI integrations, and OpenAI-backed projects are also building AI-powered web experiences. But Perplexity’s “agentic” model and fast updates may give it an edge.

There’s still no public release date, but if the current pace continues, Comet might become a standout browser by the end of the year.

For now, users can join the waitlist and hope to get early access as Perplexity expands testing.
