OnePlus could be preparing its next Ace series smartphones with some major hardware upgrades. The OnePlus Ace 7 series has now reportedly leaked online.
The lineup could include the OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro. According to the leak, both models could focus heavily on performance, gaming and battery life.
More importantly, one of these phones could reach India as the OnePlus 16R. However, OnePlus has not confirmed the Ace 7 series or its India launch.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 could power the series
The biggest reported upgrade could come from the processor. The OnePlus Ace 7 series is tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
The leaked model numbers are SM8850 and SM8850Q. If accurate, this would position the phones firmly in the flagship-performance segment.
The Ace 7 series could also target gamers. The phones are reportedly being tested with a built-in cooling fan. This could help manage heat during longer gaming sessions.
185Hz OLED display could be a highlight
The leaked specifications suggest a 6.78-inch flat LTPS OLED display. The panel could offer a 1.5K resolution.
More notably, the display is tipped to support a 185Hz refresh rate. That would make the screen one of the fastest-refreshing panels on a mainstream smartphone.
A high refresh rate could benefit gaming and scrolling. However, its practical impact will depend on how many apps and games support the higher refresh rate.
Ace 7 Pro could get a periscope camera
The camera setup could also receive a significant upgrade. The OnePlus Ace 7 series is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel primary rear camera.
For selfies and video calls, the phones could use a 16-megapixel front camera. The Ace 7 Pro could go further with a dedicated periscope telephoto camera.
The Pro model is reportedly set to feature a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 periscope sensor. It could offer 3.5x optical zoom.
This could give the Ace 7 Pro a stronger focus on long-range photography. Still, camera performance will depend on image processing and the final sensor configuration.
Around 9,000mAh battery could be coming
Battery capacity could be another major talking point. The OnePlus Ace 7 series is tipped to pack batteries around 9,000mAh.
The phones could support 100W charging or faster. That combination would give the lineup a significant endurance advantage if the reported specifications materialise.
For context, the OnePlus Ace 6 launched in October last year with a 7,800mAh battery. The Ace 6 Ultra followed in April this year with an 8,600mAh battery.
Therefore, the reported Ace 7 battery would represent another sizeable increase.
OnePlus 16R India launch remains unconfirmed
OnePlus has previously brought Ace series hardware to India under its R-series branding. The latest leak suggests the Ace 7 could follow the same strategy.
The tipster claims the series could launch in India as the OnePlus 16R. The reported price range is around ₹70,000 to ₹75,000.
For comparison, the OnePlus 15R started at ₹59,999. The reported pricing would therefore place its successor considerably higher.
However, this information remains unconfirmed. OnePlus has yet to officially announce the Ace 7 series, its specifications or an India launch.
For now, the reported Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, 185Hz OLED display, 9,000mAh battery and periscope camera point towards an ambitious upgrade. The final hardware and India branding should become clearer closer to the launch.
