The way we use TVs has changed significantly in recent years. A large screen is no longer enough. Buyers now look for better picture quality, gaming features, smart connectivity and capable audio.

The Hisense E8S tries to bring all of these features into one package. The 65-inch model is priced at Rs. 76,990 and sits in the premium Mini-LED segment.

The TV has a clean and modern design. Its slim unibody construction gives it a premium appearance, while the thin bezels keep attention on the screen.

Hisense has also used a semi-matte, anti-reflective panel. This worked well in my setup, especially when there was some ambient light in the room. It does not remove reflections completely, but it reduces them compared with a traditional glossy display.

The included two-foot stand is simple. However, it keeps the TV stable and does not complicate the installation.

Hisense E8S Display Performance

The display is arguably the biggest reason to consider the Hisense E8S.

The TV combines Mini-LED technology with Quantum Dot Colour and Full Array Local Dimming. The setup is designed to improve contrast and deliver deeper blacks.

Hisense offers up to 608 local dimming zones and up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness. During my use, contrast was one of the strongest aspects of the TV.

Dark scenes had good depth, while brighter elements retained their punch. At the same time, colours looked rich without making every scene appear overly processed.

The TV also features Hi-QLED colour technology and Pantone Validation. These features help deliver a vibrant picture across different types of content.

Movies looked engaging, while sports benefited from the bright and colourful presentation. Regular streaming content also looked good.

The Hi-View AI Engine works in the background to optimise the picture. The TV also uses AI 4K Upscaler and AI Smooth Motion to improve lower-resolution content and motion.

For movie enthusiasts, Filmmaker Mode is available alongside HDR10+ Adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ. This gives viewers more control over how different content appears.

Gaming Features

The Hisense E8S is not designed only for movies and streaming. Gaming is another major focus.

The TV comes with a native 4K 144Hz refresh rate and a 144Hz Game Mode Pro. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium.

The higher refresh rate makes fast-moving games feel smoother. HDMI 2.1 support also makes the TV suitable for current-generation consoles and gaming PCs.

There are four HDMI ports, which gives users plenty of flexibility. You can connect a gaming console, PC and other devices without constantly swapping cables.

This makes the E8S particularly interesting for someone looking for a single TV for both entertainment and gaming.

Sound Quality

Hisense has also focused on the audio experience.

The E8S features a built-in subwoofer tuned by Devialet. It supports Dolby Atmos and WiSA SoundSend as well.

The built-in subwoofer adds more depth to the sound. Bass has more presence than I would normally expect from a television, while dialogue remains clear.

Movies and games also benefit from the additional low-end response.

A dedicated soundbar or home theatre setup can still deliver a more immersive experience. However, the E8S does not immediately feel like a TV that requires an additional audio system.

For everyday viewing, the built-in audio system is capable enough.

VIDAA OS and Smart Features

The Hisense E8S runs on VIDAA Smart OS. The interface is straightforward, and I found the main settings and applications easy to access.

The TV supports Google Assistant, Alexa Built-in and VIDAA Voice. These options make it possible to search for content and control certain functions using voice commands.

The E8S also supports Share to TV, Wi-Fi 5 and smart-home connectivity.

Together, these features make the TV a fairly complete smart entertainment package.

There is, however, one area that feels slightly disappointing. The TV carries a 1-star energy rating.

Considering its 65-inch size and premium Mini-LED hardware, a better energy rating would have added more value. This becomes more relevant if the television remains switched on for several hours every day.

Hisense E8S TV Review: Verdict

The Hisense E8S shows how much the expectations around premium TVs have changed. It is no longer just about getting a bigger screen.

The E8S combines Mini-LED technology, Quantum Dot Colour and local dimming with a 144Hz refresh rate. It also adds HDMI 2.1, gaming-focused features and AMD FreeSync Premium.

The Devialet-tuned subwoofer is another useful addition. It gives the built-in speakers more depth and reduces the immediate need for a separate soundbar.

The 1-star energy rating remains one of the areas where I would have liked to see more. Still, the overall package is focused on the way people use TVs today.

At Rs. 76,990 for the 65-inch model, the Hisense E8S brings together movies, OTT streaming, gaming, smart features and built-in audio in one package. Samsung and LG may have greater familiarity among Indian consumers, but the E8S offers a feature-rich Mini-LED alternative for buyers looking beyond the usual choices.
