Vivo has announced OriginOS 7 globally, bringing its Android 17-based software experience to select Vivo and iQOO devices.

The announcement follows the launch of the Vivo X500 series in China. More importantly, Vivo is bringing the OriginOS 7 Preview Programme to India. Thailand and Malaysia are also part of the initial rollout.

The company is positioning OriginOS 7 around three themes: AI assistance, smoother performance and cross-device connectivity.

Jovi AI Is the Biggest New Feature

One of the biggest changes in OriginOS 7 is Jovi AI. Vivo describes Jovi AI as a cross-device personal agent. Unlike a conventional voice assistant, the company says it can handle complex workflows across smartphones and desktop environments.

Jovi AI is integrated with Vivo Office Kit. This allows it to work across connected devices. For example, a user could ask Jovi to retrieve a project spreadsheet from a home computer. It can then summarise the numbers and send the key takeaways to the phone.

Vivo also says Jovi can handle scheduled tasks. These include compiling weekly reports and organising files at specific intervals.

Jovi Security Tracks AI Actions

Vivo is also adding a transparency layer to its AI agent. The Jovi Security feature records every autonomous action taken by the agent, according to the company.

The Memory Fusion engine is another part of the update. Vivo says it can deliver 60 percent more memory reclamation. On a device with 256GB of storage, the company claims it can free up to 25GB of additional storage.

The updated Dual Rendering system also reportedly improves rendering efficiency by 14.4 percent.

OriginOS 7 Preview Programme Comes to India

Vivo is starting the OriginOS 7 Preview Programme in India, Thailand and Malaysia. The Vivo X300 Pro will be among the first devices to receive the update. Select iQOO devices will also join the initial programme.

Vivo says the software will later reach the Vivo X500 series, the new Vivo X Fold and the V series. The Vivo X500 series already ships with OriginOS 7 in China.
