3.2K 144Hz Displays on Both Tablets

Display is one of the biggest highlights of the new Xiaomi Pad series.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 has an 11.2-inch 3.2K display, while the Pad 9 Pro gets a larger 12.5-inch 3.2K panel. Both screens support a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and can reach up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness.

This combination should make the tablets suitable for everyday browsing, streaming, gaming and productivity. The higher refresh rate should also make scrolling and compatible animations feel smoother.

Snapdragon Power for Performance

The Xiaomi Pad 9 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. The Pad 9 Pro steps things up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. Both models run Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 4 software.

The Pad 9 Pro also gets faster memory options. Its 12GB and 16GB variants use LPDDR5T RAM clocked at 9,600Mbps. The 8GB model uses LPDDR5X RAM at 8,533Mbps.

Storage also varies by configuration. The 128GB Pro model uses UFS 3.1 storage, while the higher-capacity variants move to UFS 4.1.

Large Batteries With Fast Charging

Battery capacity is another area where Xiaomi has gone big.

The Pad 9 Pro packs an 11,000mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging. Xiaomi claims up to 14.5 hours of short-video playback and up to 20 hours of online meetings.

The standard Pad 9 comes with a 9,720mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging. It also supports 22.5W reverse charging. Xiaomi quotes the same 14.5-hour short-video and 20-hour online-meeting figures for this model.

HyperOS 4 and Productivity Features

Both tablets run HyperOS 4 and support a range of PC-class productivity applications. These include WPS for Pad, Jianying Pro, PixelCake, ZWCAD and CAJ Reader.

Xiaomi has also included its Super XiaoAI 2.0 AI assistant on both models.

For users who want to use the tablets for note-taking or creative work, both models support the Xiaomi Focus Stylus Pro, which is sold separately.

Which Xiaomi Pad Should You Buy?

On paper, the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro is the more powerful option. It brings a larger 12.5-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, up to 16GB RAM, faster storage on higher variants and a bigger battery with faster charging.

However, the standard Xiaomi Pad 9 could be the more sensible choice for users who mainly want a large-screen tablet for entertainment, browsing, studying and everyday productivity. Its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 144Hz 3.2K display still offer a strong specification package.

For now, both tablets are China launches, so their Indian prices and availability remain unconfirmed in the supplied information.
