OnePlus could be preparing a major hardware upgrade for its next flagship smartphone. The OnePlus 16 has appeared in a fresh leak that points to a larger battery, a faster display and a new Snapdragon flagship chipset.

According to information shared by tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming phone could pack a 9,000mAh battery. If that claim turns out to be accurate, the OnePlus 16 would have one of the larger batteries among flagship smartphones.

The same leak also points to a 185Hz display and a potential 200MP main camera. However, OnePlus has not confirmed any of these specifications yet.

OnePlus 16 could get a huge battery upgrade

Battery capacity could become one of the biggest talking points around the OnePlus 16.

The leaked information suggests a 9,000mAh cell, which would represent a substantial increase over the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh battery. That is a difference of 1,700mAh between the two generations.

A battery this large could give the OnePlus 16 an advantage for users who spend long hours gaming, streaming video or using mobile data.

However, battery capacity alone does not determine real-world endurance. The processor, display and software optimisation will also play a major role.

185Hz display could push refresh rates higher

The OnePlus 16 is also tipped to feature a display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz.

That would be another step up from the OnePlus 15, which reportedly features a 165Hz AMOLED display. A higher refresh rate can make animations, scrolling and supported games appear smoother.

The OnePlus 16 is said to use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor. The leak also mentions an energy-efficient chip from Oppo designed to support low-voltage discharge.

If OnePlus pairs the new Snapdragon platform with the larger battery, the company could focus heavily on sustained performance and power efficiency.
