HAMMER has expanded its audio portfolio with the launch of the Aura Air Open-Ear Wireless Earbuds. The new earbuds take a different approach to the usual in-ear TWS design by sitting around the ears instead of sealing the ear canal.
The company is targeting users who want to listen to music while staying aware of their surroundings. That makes the Aura Air particularly suited to everyday activities such as commuting, working, walking and exercising.
At an introductory price of Rs. 1,299, the earbuds also bring Bluetooth 6.0, 11mm titanium drivers and a claimed 60-hour total battery life.
Open-ear design focuses on comfort
The biggest difference between the Aura Air and conventional TWS earbuds is the design.
Instead of going inside the ear canal, the earbuds sit around the ear. This allows users to hear their surroundings while listening to music or taking calls.
HAMMER says the design is intended to reduce the pressure associated with conventional in-ear earbuds and provide what it describes as zero ear fatigue during extended use.
The earbuds use a clip-on structure and weigh 48.5g. Their ergonomic shape is designed to keep them secure while users move around.
For people who don’t enjoy the plugged-in feeling of traditional TWS earbuds, this approach could make the Aura Air an interesting alternative.
11mm titanium drivers handle the audio
For sound, the Aura Air uses 11mm titanium drivers.
HAMMER says the drivers are tuned to deliver deep bass, clear highs and detailed vocals. The open-ear stereo arrangement is designed to provide an immersive listening experience without completely cutting users off from their surroundings.
The open design does come with a different listening experience compared with sealed earbuds. However, that is also the main reason to consider this category.
Bluetooth 6.0 and four microphones
The Aura Air supports Bluetooth 6.0, with HAMMER highlighting faster pairing, stable wireless connectivity and lower latency.
The company says the upgraded Bluetooth connection is designed to keep audio responsive across music, video playback and calls.
For voice calls, the earbuds feature four MEMS microphones with Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). The microphones are designed to reduce surrounding noise and improve voice clarity.
That should make the Aura Air more practical for calls in places where there is a fair amount of ambient noise.
Up to 60 hours of battery life
Battery life is another major selling point.
HAMMER claims the Aura Air can deliver up to 60 hours of total playtime. Each earbud provides up to six hours of playback, with the charging case extending the overall listening time.
The earbuds use a USB Type-C charging port and take approximately 1.5 hours to fully charge, according to the company.
For users who regularly travel or spend long hours away from a charging point, the claimed battery endurance could be one of the strongest reasons to consider these earbuds.
