OnePlus 16 Could Make 165Hz More Useful
The OnePlus 16 could continue the brand’s focus on high-refresh-rate displays. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the phone may use BOE’s next-generation Oriental Screen with a 165Hz refresh rate.
The OnePlus 15 already offers a 165Hz display, but the upcoming model could use the refresh rate across more system and app scenarios. This could make scrolling, animations and touch interactions feel smoother beyond gaming.
The display is also tipped to use BOE’s X4 light-emitting material. OnePlus is reportedly working with BOE to customise the panel for the upcoming flagship.
For gamers, the phone could reportedly push the refresh rate even higher in supported titles. Recent reports point to up to 185Hz during gaming, although this remains unconfirmed.
ColorOS 17 Could Power the China Model
The OnePlus 16 is tipped to ship with ColorOS 17 in China. The software is based on Android 17 and could bring new system-level animations.
For context, the OnePlus 15 launched in China with Android 16-based ColorOS 16. The global version of the OnePlus 15 runs OxygenOS 16.
The new software could also complement the higher refresh rate with smoother system transitions.
Snapdragon Chip and 9,000mAh Battery Tipped
Performance could get another major upgrade with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Previous leaks have also pointed to a 9,000mAh battery.
The camera setup could include a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. These specifications remain based on leaks and have not been confirmed by OnePlus.
The combination suggests that OnePlus could focus heavily on gaming, battery life and imaging with its next flagship.
OnePlus 16 Expected Price and Launch
The OnePlus 16 is expected to launch in China later this year. Earlier reports suggested a September launch, while newer reports point towards October. Therefore, the exact launch timeline remains unclear.
The phone is tipped to start at CNY 4,999, roughly ₹71,000, for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. OnePlus has not confirmed the price or India availability.
