Honor has launched its Robot Phone in China, turning a smartphone concept with a moving camera into a commercial product.

The new handset features a robotic gimbal camera mounted on top. The camera can rotate to follow a subject while recording video. Honor also uses AI-based tracking to keep the subject in frame.

The company first teased the Robot Phone last year before showcasing the concept at MWC 2026. Now, the device has officially entered the Chinese market with flagship hardware.

Honor Robot Phone price and availability

The Honor Robot Phone starts at CNY 9,999, which translates to around Rs. 1,41,000. This version comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The higher-end model costs CNY 12,999, or roughly Rs. 1,83,000. It pairs 16GB RAM with 1TB storage. Honor offers the phone in Moon Shadow Grey and Star Trail Silver colour options. The company has not provided details about an international launch in the information available.

A camera that actually moves

The biggest attraction of the Honor Robot Phone sits above its display. The robotic camera module uses a three-axis mechanical gimbal system. It can physically rotate while recording and uses AI-based intelligent subject tracking to follow people in the frame.

This setup allows users to record hands-free videos without relying on a tripod. The camera can also adjust its position as the subject moves. The main camera uses a 200-megapixel 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor with an f/1.6 aperture. It also gets 23mm-equivalent gimbal stabilisation.

Honor adds another 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. It provides 2.7x optical zoom and up to 200x digital zoom. A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera completes the rear setup. It offers a 122-degree field of view.

For selfies, the phone carries a 50-megapixel front camera with a 90-degree field of view. The rear camera system can record 4K video at up to 120fps. The front camera supports 4K recording at 60fps.

Honor has also partnered with ARRI for the device.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the phone

The Honor Robot Phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It uses an Adreno 840 GPU and comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage goes up to 1TB.

The phone runs MagicOS 10 and features a 6.31-inch OLED display. The panel offers a 1,216 x 2,640-pixel resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

Honor claims the display can reach up to 6,800 nits of peak HDR brightness.

7,060mAh battery with 120W charging

The Robot Phone packs a 7,060mAh battery, which gives it a sizeable power reserve despite the mechanical camera system.

The handset supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also supports wireless reverse charging.

For connectivity, the phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. It also gets NFC, USB Type-C, GPS, NavIC, Galileo and GLONASS. Honor has added stereo speakers and four microphones with AI noise reduction. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor handles biometric authentication.

The phone measures 151.43 x 72.86 x 9.59mm and weighs around 248 grams.

With its moving camera, AI subject tracking and flagship specifications, the Honor Robot Phone takes a very different approach to smartphone photography. Instead of simply adding more cameras, Honor has made the camera itself part of the phone’s interaction experience.
