Redmi has expanded its budget smartphone lineup with the launch of the Redmi 17 5G in China. The new handset comes with a 6,300mAh battery, a 120Hz display and Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
The smartphone is powered by a Unisoc T8300 chipset and is already available for purchase in China.
Redmi 17 5G price and availability
The Redmi 17 5G starts at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 14,000) for the 4GB + 128GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB model is priced at CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 17,000).
The smartphone is currently on sale in China through Xiaomi’s official online store. It is available in Cold Mist Blue, Feather Mist White and Star Rock Black colour options.
Display and performance
The Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate and up to 800 nits of peak brightness. It also supports DC Dimming and Wet Touch 2.0 for better responsiveness with wet fingers.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the 6nm Unisoc T8300 chipset paired with up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage.
The handset runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
Cameras and battery
For photography, the Redmi 17 5G includes a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. Powering the device is a 6,300mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging and 7.5W reverse wired charging.
Connectivity
The Redmi 17 5G supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS and USB Type-C connectivity. The handset also includes an ambient light sensor, accelerometer and e-compass, measures 8.15mm thick and weighs 210g.
